Wii U

REDMOND, Wash.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– This holiday season is all about Mario. And Link. And Yoshi. And Samus. And Kirby. And…well, a lot of classic video game characters. That’s because Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and the first round of amiibo figures, Nintendo’s first foray into the toys-to-life category, are both launching on Nov. 21, right in time for the holiday shopping season. Nintendo’s favorite characters are going to be everywhere, whether on the battlefields of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, on store shelves as must-have amiibo figures or at the top of everyone’s holiday wish lists.

“Launching Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and amiibo on the same day kicks off the holiday shopping season with a bang…and a smash,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “With a wide range of amiibo figures to choose from and a new Super Smash Bros. game on Wii U with more features than ever before, shopping for the Nintendo fan on your list will be easy this year.”

Over on Nintendo’s tech forum it’s been revealed that a fix is coming to an MKTV issue introduced with Mario Kart 8’s latest 3.0 update. Some users have been receiving Error Code 104-1852 when attempting to upload a highlight to YouTube, here’s what a representative had to say on the topic:

Currently, when attempting to upload a game highlight video to YouTube, some users may receive Error Code 104-1852 and the video upload may fail as a result. Nintendo is aware of this and a system update to address this issue is being prepared. We will provide a status update on our support website here once the system update is ready for release.

One of the big features in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is the inclusion of Masterpieces, a look back on what the game’s cast got up to in some of their previous incarnations. Today Sakurai talks a little bit about how that’s all going to work when we get our hands on the game:

He continues:

Some of the Masterpieces aren’t unlocked at the beginning of the game. It’s impressive that there are even games from the Game Boy. Some games have different starting points, while others come loaded with save data.

Ever wondered what would happen if you took the Mute City from Mario Kart 8’s latest DLC and tried to run it in actual an F-Zero engine? Apparently you don’t need to look any further because it now exists thanks to the track editor in F-Zero X. What do you think, is this a faithful recreation of the recreation?

Another interview with Mario Kart 8 director Kosuke Yabuki has popped up online – this time from GameSpot. Yabuki was asked about how the team decided on the Nintendo franchises for DLC tracks, revealed a small tweak made to improve the lightweight racers for collisions, and more.

Read on below for some excerpts from GameSpot’s interview. You can find the full thing here.
