Fire Emblem Fates sold over 300,000 copies between all versions during its launch weekend, Nintendo has announced. It’s now the fastest-selling game in the history of the franchise in the United States.

Fire Emblem Fates managed to sell more than five times as many units as Fire Emblem Awakening. That game was the previous record holder in the United States during its first three days of availability.

Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright was the top seller between both versions, though Conquest was “close behind.”

Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive VP of sales and marketing, said of today’s news:

“Both fans and critics are falling for Fire Emblem Fates, and the early sales numbers prove the game’s undeniable appeal. This strong momentum for Nintendo 3DS is only the beginning, as many more high-quality exclusive games are set to launch for the hand-held system over the next few months.”

Coverage surrounding Etrian Odyssey V has been a bit strange. While it was announced back in November 2014, Atlus didn’t say which platform the game would be on. We’ve also received relatively little news about the title since the original reveal.

Interestingly, Etrian Odyssey V has popped up on a new survey from Atlus. One question actually lists it as a 3DS title. Given the series’ history, that platform choice would definitely make sense.

Update: Small extra tidbit, but today’s PR for the Pokemon Photo Booth app says the Pokemon Direct will have “big news.”

Today, Nintendo announced that a special Pokemon Direct will air this Friday. The company will have news about “the latest on Pokemon games.”

It’ll be streamed at the following times:

– 7 AM PT
– 10 AM ET
– 3 PM in the UK
– 4 PM in Europe

We’ll have a live stream for the Pokemon Direct before it begins – possibly a live blog as well. Note that the presentation will only last five minutes.

Nintendo and Atlus have released a new update for Genei Ibun Roku #FE. Players can download version 1.1 starting today.

Perhaps as expected, this new update doesn’t appear to do a whole lot. Nintendo’s patch notes say some problems have been fixed so that the game can be played more comfortably.
