Yesterday, rumors of the acclaimed indie game Undertale possibly heading to Nintendo platforms spread like wildfire after it discovered that someone from Nintendo of America’s developer support reached out to creator Toby Fox on Twitter. Fox, in response to the speculation, decided to share an official update on his own page.
Bringing Undertale to Nintendo platforms won’t be easy. The game was created in Game Maker, which doesn’t export to Wii U and 3DS. That means it would probably need to be completely reprogrammed. That being said, it sounds like Fox is open to giving things a shot.
Undertale would have a better shot at coming to Wii U than 3DS. Fox actually referred to Wii U specifically in his final tweet regarding a Wii U port. He’s also unsure as to how he’d use both screens on 3DS.
Here’s everything he posted on Twitter:
It's surreal that it's newsworthy that a Nintendo rep tweeted at me. I actually already talked to Nintendo about a port months ago… ^^;;
— toby's Fox (@FwugRadiation) February 4, 2016
But Game Maker (what I use) doesn't export to any Nintendo platforms. In most cases, the game would have to be reprogrammed from scratch.
— toby's Fox (@FwugRadiation) February 4, 2016
So I'm concerned about accuracy/bugs. I've reached the point of "might as well try it" though. This isn't an announcement or promise.
— toby's Fox (@FwugRadiation) February 4, 2016
BTW, I wouldn't do the porting/reprogramming myself. It'd be up to someone else. I don't know any actual programming languages LOL
— toby's Fox (@FwugRadiation) February 4, 2016
ALSO if there was a Wii U port do you think all the UNDERTALE Miiverse posts would finally have a home? Or would it just spread them more?
— toby's Fox (@FwugRadiation) February 4, 2016
@cubewatermelon Really? What would you do with the other screen?
— toby's Fox (@FwugRadiation) February 4, 2016
@cubewatermelon Yeah, it's actually not simple at all… I would probably feel guilty if I didn't use both screens somehow, too

Nintendo has just sent out a new announcement about The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD covering the changes and improvements in the game. Most of this is already known, but there are a couple of things worth mentioning.
First, Hero Mode (indeed called this in the west), can be accessed right at the start of the game. Link will take twice the amount of damage, and there are no health-replenishing hearts. As previously mentioned, the world is mirrored. We also have confirmation that using the Ganondorf amiibo means you’ll take four times the normal damage until the play session ends.
The announcement confirms other things as well such as how Tears of Light that need to be collected has been reduced from 16 to 12.
Continue on below for the full announcement.
4th February, 2016 – Zelda fans new and old alike can look forward to several updates and improvements when The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD launches on Wii U on 4th March. High definition visuals give classic scenes like Link riding Epona across the Eldin Bridge and Wolf Link howling at the moon a stunning new look, while other additions affect how the game plays, including new gameplay updates and Hero Mode.
By using the Wii U GamePad, players can now easily manage their inventory, access the map and quickly transform into a wolf via the touch screen, all without pausing the game. Players will also be able to use the GamePad to access Miiverse and can even play the game off-TV. Miiverse posts can be decorated with dozens of new Twilight Princess-related Miiverse stamps, hidden away throughout Hyrule.

Emily Rogers’ hint that Mother 3 would finally see a Western release this year caused quite a stir yesterday. Several news outlets naturally reported on the issue. Eurogamer did the same, however it seems like they, too, have some insider information, Tom Phillips, who wrote the article, claims to also have knowledge of a Mother 3 localization via separate sources. The game is supposedly being released via Wii U Virtual Console to celebrate Mother 3’s 10th anniversary in Japan.
As always with rumors like these, take them with a grain of salt.
A couple of months ago, Nintendo re-released some select 3DS titles for a discount price under the “Nintendo Selects” label in Europe. At the recent financial results briefing, it was revealed by Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima that these games sold quite well and that Nintendo would launch a similar initiative in its home country soon. Today, Nintendo revealed “Happy Price Selection” – select games will be re-printed and sold at a discount price, specifically 2,916 Yen, starting on Marc 17th. Interestingly, “Happy Price Selection” also includes some third party titles, unlike “Nintendo Selects”, which only included games developed and published by Nintendo themselves.
“Happy Price Selection” includes:
- Animal Crossing: New Leaf
- Tomodachi Life
- Luigi Mansion 2
- Nintendogs+cats: Toy Poodle & New Friends
- Nintendogs+cats: French Bulldog & New Friends
- Nintendogs+cats: Shiba Inu & New Friends
- Dora Eigo: Nobita to Yousei no Fushigi Collection
- Sumikko Guraahi, Kuma Tomo
- Gotouchi Tetsudou
- Taiko no Tatsujin: Chibi Dragon to Fushigina Orb
- Harvest Moon: A New Beginning
