Octodad: Dadliest Catch has now been dated for Europe. Next Thursday, the game will be out on the Wii U eShop for €13.99. A North American date hasn’t been announced, but it shouldn’t be too far behind.
Nintendo has sent out its response to the September 2015 report.
Super Mario Maker was the big winner for the company, as it sold almost 445,000 combined units in the United States between September 11 and October 3. Lifetime sales of the game have now surpassed 500,000 units (September 11 to October 19). Additionally, Wii U hardware sales rose by nearly 110 percent over sales in August thanks to Super Mario Maker.
Nintendo highlighted a couple of other sales figures as well. 3DS hardware sales are up almost 25 percent through the first nine months of 2015 compared to the same time frame in 2014. Also, Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer sold nearly 115,000 total units in its first week on the market.

When Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water originally arrived in Japan, the game featured some risque outfits that could be unlocked for the various characters. In North America, all signs point to these having being removed.
Things are slightly less clear when it comes to Europe (where it’s known as Project Zero: Maiden of Black Water). Some reviews suggest that the original costumes have been left in tact, while others indicate the opposite. We should know for sure sometime within the next few days as more players get their hands on the game.
Following a slight delay, Human Resource Machine has received a final release date in North America. Tomorrow Corporation will now be launching the eShop version on October 29 – next Thursday.
There’s also some news about Europe as well. This isn’t absolutely set yet, but Human Resource Machine could be coming to the region sometime in November.

Mashable recently had a chance to speak with Masayuki Uemura, the lead designer of the Nintendo Entertainment System.
At one point during the discussion, Uemura commented on how the name was settled on:
“We decided to put Entertainment in the middle. We thought we could maybe piggyback a little bit [on] the naming idea Atari had had, but put something with a little more dynamism and attraction in the middle. So that’s how it became the NES.”
Masayuki went on to discuss Atari – which had created a negative images of games – and how Nintendo wanted to go in a different direction.
During the Portland Retro Gaming Expo, Inti Creates president Takuya Aizu was on hand to show new footage from Azure Striker Gunvolt 2. Attendees also got a look at a new boss and song.
Here’s what we know thus far:

– More footage might be coming around summer of 2016 (very tentative)
– Some playable version of the game also may be released in summer (very tentative)
– There will be more stage-mashup (Gauntlet) levels in Gunvolt 2
– Will re-use pixel art assets from the first game
– The resolution and graphics are also planned to be the same
– The transition from GV1 to GV2 will reportedly be similar to the first and second Mega Man Zero games
– No word yet on whether Dullahan will be back
– The sequel will be around the same length as the first game: around 8-10 hours
– There might be an actual, happy ending in GV2
– There will evidently be “something surprising” in the game’s story
– The checkpoint markers in the trailer apparently look “Copen style”
– The gameplay in the trailer looks very much the same as the first game
