The Wii U may be lacking Minecraft, but there are plenty of similar games heading to the platform to make up for its absence.

The latest effort comes from Cypronia and its project “Cube Life: Island Survival”. Here’s what we know thus far:

– Survival Mode: places you in a world with a series of islands and you have to explore and craft to survive
– You’ll also have to defend yourself when night falls
– Cypronia is keen to emphasize that it’s aiming for “a living world with wild animals on the land, lurking in caves, swimming under the water, or even flying in the sky”, while boasting of over 200 items to craft
– Creative Mode: make designs in an editor
– This will support online sharing
– Updates coming throughout 2015 and more
– Will improve the game based on feedback

Our goal is create the best block building open-world sandbox game for Nintendo platforms. PC, Xbox, Playstation, and even smartphones, all have Minecraft. Nintendo players deserve to have something truly special, too—to have their own game.

We can get inspired by the best ideas from the existing competition, but we really want to go our own way… In the same way Nintendo makes their own path.

Cube Life: Island Survival will be released in Q2 2015. Stay tuned for additional information.

Sonic Generations was one of the few recent entries in SEGA’s long-running series that never made it to Wii. However, it seems there were initially plans to bring the game to both Nintendo’s console as well as the DS.

In a new report, Unseen 64 writes:

The next update on Sonic Anniversary came from Madrid’s Gamefest 2010, courtesy of Sonic news site, Sonic Paradise. As corroborated by Sonic Reikai, a SEGA representative reportedly let slip an abundance of information on the game to one of their reporters. Without the authorisation of SEGA, the rep. disclosed that it was to be a combination of 2D and 3D gameplay, and would be developed for Nintendo Wii, PSP, PS3 and DS. When asked whether or not it was planned to come to Xbox 360, the employee indicated that talks were still ongoing.

Eventually, the game was officially announced as Sonic Generations on April 18, 2011 for Xbox 360 and PS3. It is uncertain how far the Wii, PSP and DS versions progressed, but our sources suggest that they were cancelled not long into development.

A few more updates landed on the Japanese Xenoblade Chronicles X Twitter account today. This time around, we get to hear from the game’s producer.

Check out the translated tweets below:

This is a sudden introduction, but nice to meet you. My name is Kawabata and I work as Xenoblade X’s producer. From now on, Monolith staff other than Takahashi will be using this account to send out Tweets to you all, with me taking the lead.

Counting, it’s been about 5 years since Xenoblade’s release meaning you’ve all been waiting for a long time, but, speaking honestly, it feels like a long time even for those of us working here. On top of that, we’re also well underway with localization work, too.

However, I believe we have created something that you will feel was well worth the wait, so I hope you can remain patient for the game’s release a little while longer.
