Octopath Traveler

Square Enix, along with the team at Acquire, are currently wrapping up Octopath Traveler for Switch. The company won’t be stopping there, however.

Speaking with Game Informer, Octopath Traveler producer Tomoya Asano confirmed that more projects are on the way. He mentioned that “Square Enix has decided that it wants to focus on original titles for the Switch.”

Earlier in the week, Game Freak’s Junichi Masuda conducted Q&A sessions with different members of the media. European press participated in one of these events. Masuda was asked about topics such as how core fans will react to the Let’s Go games, on when it was decided to make those titles as well as the 2019 games, and the possibility of more open gameplay in the future.

Some of the notable excerpts are as follows:

A few outlets were able to participate in a conference call around the reveal of Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee. Director Junichi Masuda commented on the games further during the conversation.

Speaking about being based around Pokemon Yellow as well as synergy with Pokemon GO, Masuda said:

Last night’s Pokemon press conference was filled with exciting news about the series’ future in the video game space. After all of the big announcements were made, members of the press were able to participate in a Q&A session with Pokemon president Tsunekazu Ishihara and Game Freak directors Junichi Masuda and Shigeru Ohmori.

The Q&A transcript has now been published officially online. There’s talk about Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee as well as the 2019 entries.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle

A number of media outlets recently went hands-on with the new Donkey Kong DLC for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. YouTuber AbdallahSmash026 was among them, and was also able to chat with lead developer Xavier Manzanares.

One of the topics discussed is multiplayer. While you can play with a friend locally, online isn’t supported.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2

Capcom offered the latest coverage on Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1+2 this week. The company provided the latest details about X Challenge in particular, including some new armor for Mega Man.

Japanese magazine Famitsu also posted an interview with producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya. Tsuchiya spoke about bringing back the Mega Man X games in the new collections, what’s new, and more.

Overwatch

Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan was asked about the possibility of bringing the shooter to Switch last year. At the time, he explained that there would be some challenges in making that happen.

A year later, senior game producer Matthew Hawley has also been asked as to whether or not we could see Overwatch on Nintendo’s console one day. Hawley acknowledged the popularity of the system, but like Kaplan, noted that challenges would be involved. He did start out by saying that it’s something the team is constantly evaluating.

Superhot

Last year, when asked about the possibility of Superhot on Switch, Andrzej Dominowski seemed open to the idea. Dominowski mentioned at the time that it was under consideration.

Though we haven’t heard anything since, it appears that things are moving forward. Superhot director Piotr Iwanicki told Destructoid, “There are plans. It should be there,” Iwanicki said.

Dragon Marked For Death

After it was announced last year, Inti Creates has been keeping mostly quiet on Dragon Marked For Death. In a new interview, however, the studio talked a bit more about the project.

Inti Creates boss Takuya Aizu has said that the game has a main story, with individual arcs for each of the four characters. You’ll be able to progress with each story online by playing with someone else on the same map while advancing the plot at your own pace.
