Mario Kart 8 Deluxe balance changes 2.4.0

Fans have managed to uncover balance changes made with version 2.4.0 of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

The new patch included a number of aspects, including support for the Booster Course Pass Wave 5 DLC. However, Nintendo also indicated that stats were changed for some characters and vehicles.

The Japanese website Mario Kart Blog by 7step has now put together a list of balance changes, and we also have information about new characters Petey Piranha, Wiggler, and Kamek. Meester Tweester has since compiled the information in English.

Original (6/21): Nintendo has shared details on the next Splatfest for Splatoon 3. This time around, it’s carrying an ice cream theme.

Nintendo is asking a simple question this time around: is the best flavor vanilla, strawberry, or mint chip? Players will be able to weigh in from July 14 at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET to July 16 at the same time.

Japan's best-selling games on the Switch eShop for the first half of 2023

Nintendo published a new list today that reveals the best-selling games on the Japanese Switch eShop for the first half of 2023.

What came on top? That’d be The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, of course. Despite coming out in the middle of May, it took the top spot.

There are a few other games worth mentioning. Fire Emblem Engage did well, coming in right behind Zelda. Both volumes of the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection also placed in the top ten.

Umbraclaw

Inti Creates announced Umbraclaw a little while back, but while it was initially confirmed for PC, the studio has now revealed that a Switch version is happening as well. A release window has not been determined.

Umbraclaw, a side-scrolling action adventure, stars the house cat Kuon who’s on a mission to return to his master after he dies and finds himself trapped in the Soulplane. Further details can be found in the following overview:

EA Sports FC 24 is coming to Switch, and this seems to be the first notable soccer (or football) game from EA on Nintendo’s console in years.

For those that haven’t been keeping up with things, this is essentially the company’s yearly FIFA release. EA Sports and FIFA weren’t able to keep their agreement going, so it’ll be a slightly different take compared to what fans are used to seeing.

Oxenfree II: Lost Signals review

System: Switch
Release date: July 12, 2023
Developer: Night School Studio
Publisher: Netflix

When Oxenfree released in 2016, I was enamored with it. I was younger then and found comfort in its high school drama and socially awkward characters, who were relatable and felt real. The supernatural yarn it weaved was surprisingly dark, yet grounded in events that felt possible in its strange world of ghosts and timeloops. But players who made it the end were likely left with at least a few unresolved questions, and Oxenfree II: Lost Signals tantalizes with promises of answers, or at least a deeper glimpse into the strange phenomena that occurred on Edwards Island all those years ago. While Oxenfree II delivers in that regard, its narrative and new exploration mechanics felt disappointingly safe for most of its runtime, failing to surprise and hook me in the way its predecessor did (outside of a few key moments); still, fans of the original owe it to themselves to see this story through to its conclusion.

Gex Trilogy

Gex Trilogy is in development and will release on Switch, Square Enix and Limited Run Games just announced.

Gex, a platforming series, got its start in 1995. Gex: Enter the Gecko followed in 1998, and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko closed the series out in 1999. This marks the first time these games will be re-released on modern platforms. Also, as they’ll be using Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine, we’ll likely see some improvements.
