Factor 5 was responsible for some notable Star Wars games on the N64 and GameCube many years ago. The studio is also well-known for the Turrican series, which is now returning on Switch.

Factor 5 studio founder Julian Eggebrecht spoke about the past, present, and future of Turrican in an interview with Eurogamer. One interesting subject discussed was Tornado, a spiritual successor planned as a 3D title and was initially pitched as a Nintendo-published project. Sadly, it was put on hold and never touched again so that Star Wars: Rogue Squadron could be ready for the GameCube’s launch.

Eggebrecht said:

There are a number of different activities at Super Nintendo World, including the Mario Kart: Koopa’s Challenge ride. The first video showing off the attraction has now emerged.

The BEUC and its members have submitted a complaint against Nintendo to the European Commission and national consumer protection authorities following close to 25,000 reports concerning Joy-Con drift. Switch owners filed complaints from France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal, Italy, Norway, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Greece. These reports claim that the Joy-Con controller malfunction in 88 percent of cases within the first two years of use.

Today’s announcement states that the “BEUC has submitted a complaint to the European Commission and national consumer protection authorities for premature obsolescence and misleading omissions of key consumer information (on the basis of the EU’s Unfair Commercial Practices Directive).” It is now “calling for a Europe-wide investigation into the issue and for Nintendo to be obliged to urgently address the premature failures of its product.” For the time being, the BEUC says consumers should have their Joy-Con be repaired for free and consumers “should be properly informed
about the limited lifespan of this product.”

BEUC general director Monique Goyens said in a statement:

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy

System: Switch
Release date: January 26, 2021
Developer: Gust
Publisher: Koei Tecmo

Our beautiful and charming resident concocter of potions and alchemy returns in a follow up to the most successful entry in Koei Tecmo’s long-running Atelier franchise, which sees alchemists go on fantastical adventures of self-discovery and wonder as they achieve their goals in heartwarming tales. Nearly 25 years later, the series is bigger than ever and one of its most popular protagonists, Ryza, returns with her own sequel. Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy builds upon the foundation of what made the original such a hit with both old and new fans alike, and while it still doesn’t necessarily do anything to reinvent the wheel or push the genre or technical limits of hardware, the game continues to do what the franchise does best: provide us with wholesome adventures in a relaxing JRPG setting with a cast you can’t help but love and grow with.

Koei Tecmo reported its latest financial results today, revealing new shipment data for a few different titles.
