Pokemon Diamond and Pearl - Cyrus

After the source code for the Gen 3 Pokemon games leaked online a few days ago, some fans have been picking away at the code and files in hopes of finding some interesting secrets. There’s at least been an interesting discovery within the past few days.

Over on Twitter, users shinyhunter_map and RETIREglitch helped uncover an unused event with Team Galactic boss Cyrus. Here’s a clip from Pokemon Diamond/Pearl’s internal data on the skirts of Floaroma Town:

Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime had plenty of meetings with Shigeru Miyamoto over the years while working at the company. However, their very first encounter was understandably memorable. Reggie very much knew about Miyamoto and his historic career, but Miyamoto had no idea who Reggie was at the time.

Reggie recounted the story of meeting Miyamoto during an episode of the Talking Games podcast. It came about early on in his career when he was being shown for the DS for the first time. Reggie had made a comment about the importance of the handheld’s touch screen without realizing Miyamoto was in the room. After this, he quickly became aware that the legendary game designer heard what he said, and Reggie’s knees began to shake. Fortunately, Miyamoto liked Reggie’s comment, and he was able to get off on the right foot.

That’s only a summary of the story. Here’s the full transcript from the podcast:

According to an eShop listing, They Came From the Sky will be appearing on Switch next week. The fast-paced arcade game is scheduled for June 5.

Here’s an official overview plus trailer:

Bandai Namco is bringing Mr. Driller back in about a month. Mr. Driller DrillLand, a GameCube title that never left Japan, will now be seeing a worldwide release on Switch.

At least in North America and Europe, the game appears to be digital-only. In Japan, however, the situation is different. It’s confirmed to be receiving a physical version in the region.

The Outer Worlds

The Outer Worlds will make use of optional gyro controls, Obsidian has confirmed to Nintendo Everything.

Production director Eric DeMilt told us that much time was spent on “tuning controls to help with playability on the Switch.” The team “tuned sensitivity, exposed some inputs to users in the settings menu, tweaked and iterated aim assist values and added support for gyro aiming, and sticky targeting.”

Labyrinth of Touhou 2

Labyrinth of Touhou 2 is making the jump to Switch, Phoenixx, Cubetype, and Nise-Eikoku Shinshidan announced today. A release is planned for this summer in Japan.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons

May is almost over, which means that the bugs and fish for the month will soon be swapped out in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Players have just a couple of days remaining until they’re swapped out.

Thanks to Polygon, we have a pair of charts showing which bugs and fish are leaving at the end of May. There are two versions since things will differ depending on whether you’re in the northern or southern hemisphere.
