Yesterday, Nintendo held a live stream at Milan Games Week and showed off Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Despite being the same area from Gamescom, it was an updated build, and new details were shared.

Here’s a roundup of information from the event:

Gust issued a bunch of new details and screenshots for Atelier Lydie & Suelle: The Alchemists and the Mysterious Paintings. Characters, the Ambitions Notebook, and more are covered. We’ve rounded everything up below, courtesy of Gematsu.

Yesterday we heard about a new Splatfest for Splatoon 2 in Japan. But strangely, this apparently wasn’t intended to be the new topic.

Nintendo said on the Japanese Splatoon Twitter page that the information only went out to certain users. Those who already signed up for the Splatfest – which was incorrect – will have their t-shirts returned. We’ll also be hearing about the next proper Splatfest for Japan towards the end of this week.

Rising Star Games recently said that Ninja Shodown would be coming soon to Switch. By soon, that could be just a few days from now. The North American Switch eShop lists the game for release on October 5.

Here’s an overview from the listing:

Koei Tecmo is bringing an Attack on Titan 2 game to Switch, but Spike Chunsoft is also releasing Attack on Titan 2: Future Coordinates for 3DS in Japan later this year. Confusing, right? In any case, a new commercial for the latter title can be found below.

It’s time for the latest Famitsu‘s most wanted games chart. Super Mario Odyssey moves up back a spot, with Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 maintaining their positions.

Head past the break for the full chart. All votes were cast between September 14 and September 20.

Since it’s October, that can only mean one thing: Super Mario Odyssey launches this month. Nintendo is celebrating with some special images.

We have a new wallpaper for the game above (primarily intended for smartphones). We also have the same image as a calendar below.

In terms of pure 2D games, the past couple of Metroid titles have been remakes. Metroid: Zero Mission was a remake of the original entry. And Metroid: Samus Returns redid Metroid II from the Game Boy.

What lies ahead for the future of 2D Metroid? As of now, it probably won’t be a remake, unless Nintendo feels that’s what fans want.
