Bethesda on Switch releases, porting Doom, sales expectations, wants to continue support
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 52 Comments
It’s rather surprising, but Bethesda has been one of Switch’s strongest supporters thus far. Unlike what we saw with previous console generations, the company is already preparing a few games for Nintendo’s system. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim launches in November, followed by Doom this holiday, and Wolfenstein II in 2018.
Nintendo fans will be happy to hear that this could be just the start of Bethesda’s plans for Switch. In an interview with GamesBeat, vice president of marketing and communications Pete Hines noted that they don’t intend to just release these games and stop. “We want this to be the start of a relationship that we build with Nintendo and Nintendo fans,” Hines noted.
More comments from Hines about Switch are included below. You can read the full interview on GamesBeat here.

Etrian Odyssey V – Harbinger class trailer
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Videos | 1 Comment
Atlus has a new Etrian Odyssey V trailer focusing on the Harbinger class. We have the video along with a brief introduction below.
Wielding both a giant scythe and the mysterious energy known as miasma, Harbingers are reapers of destruction ready to protect you at a moment’s notice. Besides being able to dish out the damage by cutting down swaths of enemies, Harbingers can harness the powers of miasma to help the party or hurt enemies. Using TP, they can summon powerful miasma armor with passive support or status ailment abilities (like curse, paralyze, etc…). Be warned though, wearing the armor will drain a little bit of HP. They might be an unconventional class, but can be a force to be reckoned with in the right hands.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar – Knolan spotlight
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Switch, Videos | 0 comments
THQ Nordic issued the first hero spotlight for Battle Chasers: Nightwar. Below, you can find a video focusing on the old mage Knolan.
Here’s an overview of Knolan:
Knolan is a wizened old mage troubled by the rapid decline of mana – the source of all magic power in the world. In Battle Chasers: Nightwar, he is not only a powerful damage dealer, but also a strong healer capable of reviving a fallen team mate. With his huge spell book and a short temper, Knolan is far more dangerous than he may first appear. He can shoot arcane missiles, fireballs and ice lances at his enemies and unleash a devastating firestorm. One of his powerful Burst abilities is Eldritch Summon: tentacles from another plane reach out through a portal and are damaging all foes.
Doom runs at 30 frames per second on Switch
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 30 Comments
We have a little more information about the technical performance of Doom on Switch. Polygon, who went hands-on with the game, reports that it runs at 30 frames per second. In case you’re curious, Doom is 60 frames per second on other consoles.
The site does add that “the frame rate dipped considerably” during parts of the first level. While it usually recovered, it stayed low during one occasion. But a spokesperson told Polygon that Doom is still being optimized for Switch, so hopefully everything will be cleaned up before the holiday launch.
