The Japanese Splatoon Twitter account hasn’t stopped sending out new content over the past week. View a few new screenshots above, and some bits of information below.
Investigation report from the Squid Research Lab. This mysterious person (sorry, squid) guides the protagonist in Hero Mode. It seems that in the peaceful squid world he is the only man (sorry, squid) that has noticed the plans of the Octopus Corps. Anyway, he’s totally seeing our cameraman here.
We have confirmed the existence of various contraptions in Hero Mode. This cannon can shoot powerful ink bullets. Could it be something that the Octopus Corps set up, or was it someone else entirely? Be that as it may, it looks like a rather technologically advanced device.
Report from the Squid Research Lab. This guys name is “Denchinamazu” [Lit: Battery Catfish]. This world appears to run on the energy produced by this catfish. The protagonist enters the Octopus Army Corps base alone in order to return the stolen Denchinamazu.

Watch Dogs has a mandatory install

It’s not too often that you hear about a Wii U game with a mandatory install, but that’s exactly the case with Watch Dogs. The game eats up about 128MB of space before you start the game and takes roughly 45-50 seconds to complete the process. You’ll see a notice on screen stating that data is being installed as it’s taking place.

amiibo Loot Crates already sold out

That didn’t take long! The amiibo Loot Crates are already sold out, so hopefully you got an order in if you had any interest. When Nintendo said that the amiibo Loot Crates would be limited, they really meant it!

RecoChoku 3DS app has been downloaded over 3 million times in Japan

Back in 2012, a RecoChoku app for 3DS launched in Japan. It has since gone on to be a success with over 3 million downloads.

– RecoChoku was the first Japanese website to sell ringtones in Japan
– They have expanded and now sell music downloads, CDs and DVDs, e-books and other digital content
– Can purchase downloads of singles, albums, video clips, ringtones, and more

– Can see the latest top hits on the website
– 3DS app allows users to choose from about one million songs of various genres and can be checked out through searches, latest songs, rankings, and recommended songs

– Message system to send recommendations to friends as well
– Community feature coming to 3DS

Sakurai again comments on clone characters in Smash Bros., roster approach

Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai has once again commented on some of the clone characters in the new Wii U and 3DS games. He was asked to touch on the difference between clone characters like Marth and Lucina versus alternative costumes such as the Koopalings for Bowser Jr.
Below are his full comments on the matter:
“With regards to Bowser Jr., the Koopalings, Marth vs. Lucina, there are reasons for each. Lucina was the first to be split-off, this is because we made Marth’s moves more standard so he could be easy to handle by novice players.”
“However, any character which gained some uniqueness through their balancing needed to be separated so their results and statistics could be counted properly. It wouldn’t have been fair to have the results counted together even though their strengths differ between the variations. In the end, what was needed for each of these changes was to reduce the work required to balance the game.”
“Hence all these characters were adjusted relative to their clone. For example, Marth and Lucina would only be tested against each other, until they were roughly equal and in balance.”
SUMICO hitting the 3DS eShop next month

Engine Software already has two titles lined up for the 3DS eShop: Mindfeud and Proun+. A third game is also on the way. SUMICO is expected to hit the eShop sometime next month.
SUMICO previously released on iOS and Android. It’s a strategic numbers-puzzle game in which players solve math problems for points. As the complexity of puzzles increase, you’ll be able to obtain more points.

A new Japanese magazine scan shares a few other details as well. Bandai Namco is including an original story, and there will be some visual novel elements.
