It seems that we now have a definitive answer on how Nintendo is handling the distribution of Bayonetta 1 when purchasing Bayonetta 2 on the eShop.

Bayonetta 2 will cost $49.99 at launch – $10 less than originally expected. However, this is because you’ll need to make a separate purchase for the original Bayonetta, which appears to be priced at $9.99. Buying both games brings the total to $59.98.

So when all is said and done, you’re still essentially getting Bayonetta 1 for free. Nintendo is just going about things in a bit of a strange manner! I suppose if the first Bayonetta doesn’t interest you, then you’ll be able to save $10.

Super Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai returns in Famitsu this week with his regular column. Once again, Sakurai addressed questions fans may have about the new Wii U and 3DS games.

One topic Sakurai discussed: “How are characters selected [to be in Smash Bros.]?” His response was a bit lengthy, though the process ultimately comes down to polls, research, and the team’s decisions.

Update: Aaaaaaand all gone. That was rather quick! Lasted only about an hour or so.

Prima’s The Legend of Zelda Box Set has been discounted by $100 on Amazon. Be quick though, as the deal will only last for the next four hours (or until supplies last).

Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley is launching in North America on November 4, Natsume has announced.

The publisher just shared the news on Twitter with the following message:

Harvest Moon: The Lost Valley will be coming to Europe sometime next year. We should be hearing about the game’s publisher shortly.

A Bayonetta 2 demo is now available for download from the European Wii U eShop. The news was announced through a new launch trailer published by Nintendo of Europe just a short while ago. No word yet on a demo for North America, but we’ll keep you updated.

Today, Nintendo announced plans to sponsor a new exhibit at Seattle’s EMP Museum. EMP’s Indie Game Revolution Sponsored by Nintendo exhibit begins on November 8, “and aims to explore how the independent game developer community is pushing past conventional boundaries and expanding the definition and cultural impact of this fast-growing medium.”

Those who attend Indie Game Revolution will find playable versions of titles made by independent developers throughout the past year. Shovel Knight and The Swapper – both playable on Wii U – will be featured for the exhibit’s opening next month. Other titles from Nintendo will be included in the museum’s video game programming going forward.

David Wharton, Nintendo of America’s director of Network Business Marketing, commented on today’s news:

“Nintendo’s commitment to supporting games from independent developers has never been stronger. EMP Museum is not only a wonderful venue to showcase this content, but also to dig deeper into the ways creative designers with great ideas continue to deliver their games to the public.”

Patty Isacson Sabee, CEO + Director, EMP Museum, also stated:

“EMP is extremely pleased and excited by Nintendo’s sponsorship of our upcoming exhibition. Indie Game Revolution represents some of the most innovative and creative work in video games and we’re thrilled to see Nintendo’s continued support of the independent game development community.”
