Okamiden Chibiterasu PVC statue

First 4 Figures today unveiled its latest Okamiden statue, the Chibiterasu PVC. This follows the Chibiterasu vs. Dark Chibiterasu & Possessed Kuni product we reported on at the end of 2020.

Each unit contains the Chibiterasu PVC painted statue, highly detailed base inspired by Okami art style, Divine Retribution weapon with two LED functions, premium deluxe box, authentication card, and limited edition numbering. More information can be found below.

brain age sudoku

Sudoku wasn’t included in the original Japanese release of Brain Age, but it did find its way into the western edition. Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime is a big reason why.

Reggie knew that Nintendo would have to think about Brain Age differently in the west. Japan had an older population, and Dr. Kawashima was largely unknown in the west. Reggie would later have a conversation with the late Nintendo global CEO Satoru Iwata about including sudoku for Brain Age in overseas regions.

Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt controversy

Those that picked up an early DS unit may recall the pack-in experience Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt. Instead of going with a complete game, this was more of a demo that offered a look into what the final product would become.

Even though it wasn’t a full title, it turns out there was some controversy when it came to offering it to consumers. Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime mentioned in his newly-released book that “our developers hated to give away content for free”. Thankfully, the late Satoru Iwata and Shigeru Miyamoto both signed off on the idea.

Should Nintendo ever use dual screens again?

This may sound like a strange question, but after looking back on Nintendo consoles in the recent past, we know that the concept was used three times. Switch then represented the end of that trend, but could the idea could come back in the future?

In today’s video, I discuss the pros and cons of dual screen gameplay and, in the process, try to figure out if it is an idea that Nintendo should revisit in the future. You can check out the video down below.

Sonic Chronicles intro cinematic

More than a decade after the game’s original release, a cut animated intro cinematic has been revealed for Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood.

The game was made for the DS by BioWare, the studio behind Mass Effect, Dragon Age, and titles like Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. The company hasn’t done much with Nintendo platforms, but worked with SEGA to make Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood on DS exclusively.

Pokemon Sun/Moon

New data from the UK has ranked all of the mainline Pokemon games going back to the Game Boy based on how big their launches were in terms of sales.

It’s actually Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon, a pair of 3DS titles, that topped the list. Pokemon Sword and Pokemon Shield are right behind at #2. We just saw the release of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl on Switch, which come in at #5.

Here’s a look at the full list:

ace attorney best cases

Japanese magazine Famitsu recently conducted an online survey pertaining to the Ace Attorney series, with fans asked to vote on topics like the best characters and cases. This comes in celebration of the franchise’s 20th anniversary. A total of 1,394 responses were recorded.

Below are the notable excerpts from the survey:

GamesIndustry has shared some interesting data pertaining to the Metroid series in the UK. Along with the best-selling entries in the series by units, we’re also able to see the best-selling titles in terms of revenue.

In terms of units, Metroid Prime is the best-selling Metroid title in the UK at the moment. Metroid Prime 3: Corruption wins out regarding revenue. You’ll notice that Metroid Dread has already overtaken several games and is in the top ten despite being on the market for just a few days – and that’s without digital downloads being factored in.

Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow julius mode

As part of a recent Reddit AMA, Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow developer Shutaro Iida talked about the game’s use of touch, the Julius mode, and more.

The fan session was actually taking place as a way of promoting Bloodstaind: Ritual of the Night, of which Iida was its director. But he also has a long history with the Castlevania series having started out on Lament of Innocence, later Aria of Sorrow, and then the DS entries.

Pokemon Pinball

Earlier this week, we heard about a whole bunch of Wii projects that were left on the cutting room floor, including a Metroid game from Intelligent Systems. We now have the equivalent from the DS side of things. Once again, this news comes from the latest Nintendo leaks as part of the company’s overall “gigaleak”.

One notable revelation is that it appears Metroid Prime Pinball developer Fuse was once planning a new Pokemon Pinball game for DS, and it would have included Wi-Fi support. We also have confirmation about the long-rumored Geist DS – complete with online play. Also, there’s something here called “PLUCKER” – a strategy game proposed by Magic the Gathering creator Richard Garfield.
