Monster Hunter movie’s first trailer leaks online

The Shanghai International Film Festival hosted the very first trailer for the upcoming Monster Hunter movie. While it hasn’t been shared online officially, the video was recorded and posted online.
Here’s the trailer:
In Asia, Toho and Tencent will be bringing the movie to movie theaters.

E3 analysis shows significant rise in Nintendo media coverage since 2016 and more

ICO Partners has published a new report on E3 media coverage after its technology monitored everything that took place last week. Aside from insight into this year’s show, there’s interesting analysis for Nintendo and more on the whole.
The first chart above shows the amount of attention that Nintendo, PlayStation, and Xbox have received since 2014. Nintendo was at one of its lowest points in 2016, but started to rebound after that. This E3 was one of the best for the Big N, which can be attributed to Switch’s success.
Level-5 attending Anime Expo 2019, surprises teased for upcoming panel

Level-5 has announced that it will be attending Anime Expo 2019 next month. Not only that, but it sounds like some surprises will be sharing during an upcoming panel.

GameStop is taking pre-orders for the latest round of amiibo. You can reserve Link, Squirtle, Snake, and Ivysaur here.
As a general note, a number of these amiibo have been selling out at retailers. The new Link figure in particular has proven popular so far.

SEGA wants to take on a new challenge for Sonic’s 30th anniversary, mixed thoughts about eSports

2021 will be a big year for Sonic, as the character and the franchise as a whole will be turning 30 years old. According to Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka, the team wants to take on a new kind of challenge for the the series’ big milestone.
Iizuka shared that news in a recent interview with 4Gamer. During the same discussion, he was also asked about the possibility of Sonic crossing over into eSports territory. Given the nature of the main games, Iizuka believes it’s unlikely. Other genres may be a better fit for the idea, however.

Elite Beat Agents creator pitched a music-based platformer to Nintendo

At GDC over a decade ago, Elite Beat Agents creator Keiichi Yano mentioned that he pitched an action game to Nintendo. We now actually know that this was a music-based platformer, though it never really moved forward beyond that initial talk with the Big N. Yano thought it would be interesting to have a platformer in which the music synced to your movements.
Yano also told Liam Robertson during an interview that he made a number of other pitches to Nintendo. However, it’s unclear what exactly these were.

Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma still finds it exciting to collaborate with Shigeru Miyamoto

Eiji Aonuma has had a very long career at Nintendo, and specially working on Zelda. Aonuma first got involved with the series on Ocarina of Time and has been one of the key members of the development team since then.
At E3 2019 this week, Game Informer decided to ask Aonuma about his career. The developer said that as opposed to before, “I have a great team with great people with different skills to help me create things together.”

Doug Bowser shares an inside story about filming for the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct

New Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser had his first major appearance on the E3 2019 Nintendo Direct this past week. Nintendo couldn’t help but play up his last name, which meant bringing the video game character into the equation.
