Trio of mystery amiibo CPSIA certificates appear

Three new CPSIA certificates have been spotted on Nintendo’s website. Two were published on Monday, with another one going up on today.
The item numbers of each certificate may give us insight into what these amiibo could be. One could be for a new double pack of some sort while the other two could be related to Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Of course, that’s just speculation for now.

In the meantime, I would like to reiterate that Runner3 will feature faces both old and new. If you fear change, stay tuned! We’ll be talking more about some familiar faces in the near future…

Final Fantasy VII devs recall leaving Nintendo platforms, Square was told to “never come back”
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 186 Comments
Square made a major change with the Final Fantasy series starting with the seventh entry. Whereas previous titles graced Nintendo hardware, Final Fantasy VII only ended up on PlayStation. Since then, Square Enix has kept the main entries off Nintendo platforms.
Earlier this week, Polygon published a massive feature on Final Fantasy VII, which includes interviews with many of the RPG’s developers. At one point, the conversation specifically focused on settling on the PlayStation over the N64. Character programmer Hiroshi Kawai said “you would get nowhere near anything like a Final Fantasy running” on Nintendo hardware, later adding that he heard from the big N to “never come back.”
Former Square president Hisashi Suzuki commented on this subject many years ago. At the time, he claimed Nintendo became frustrated when Square left, but also when when Square later helped convince others (like Enix), to leave as well.
Here’s the full excerpt:

The Legend of Zelda: Art and Artifacts Limited Edition revealed, only 10,000 copies
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 22 Comments
Update (1/10): Sold out on Amazon Canada, but now up on Amazon UK, Amazon Germany, and Amazon France.
Original (1/9): Many of you are likely aware that The Legend of Zelda: Art and Artifacts is slated for release next month. The book features art across the entire series, including Breath of the Wild. Fans can look forward to rare promotional pieces, game box art, instruction booklet illustrations, official character illustrations, sprite art, interviews with the artists, and more.
We now have word that Dark Horse Comics is preparing The Legend of Zelda: Art and Artifacts Limited Edition. The item, limited to just 10,000 copies, features an exclusive Master Sword cover and Acetate Slipcase.
As the official Amazon listing states:
“This exclusive edition of only 10,000 copies features an original cover with a raised 3D embossed Master Sword. The book fits into an acetate slip case that features a golden sheath for the Master Sword and emulates the sword being removed from the sheath when the book is removed from the top of the slipcase.
The sword itself is a 3D embossed sculpt with a metallic foil finish and is printed at the size of an actual sword hilt to give the reader the satisfaction of unsheathing the realistic-looking sword from the acetate sleeve sheathe that encases the book. The cover’s background features the Lost Woods in a deep, custom-mixed purple ink with a soft touch lamination and spot-gloss UV which is framed with metallic foil. The pages are gold gilded to round out the premium enhancements.”
The Legend of Zelda: Art & Artifacts Limited Edition (and standard version) arrives on February 21. You can pre-order it on Amazon here or Amazon Canada here.

You can defeat Big Boos in Super Mario World by sliding down stairs
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 24 Comments
Did you know Big Boos can be defeated by sliding down stairs in Super Mario World. It’s the only Boo in the game that can be taken down in that manner, so perhaps it was an oversight on the part of Nintendo’s developers.
Some players definitely knew about this, but there are plenty who were completely unaware of it. How many of you tried out that little secret back in the day?
