Mario Party composer says nearly 200 songs were scrapped from the soundtrack

Yasunori Mitsuda, the original composer for Mario Party, has now shared some interesting information about the first game’s soundtrack. Twitter user gosokkyu came through with the translation. Mario Party 1 and 2 just landed on Nintendo Switch Online as part of the service’s Expansion Pack tier, so it makes sense for this information to come to light now.
Mitsuda mentioned how Mario Party was his first freelance gig, and the music director told him they wanted “jazz”. However, all of his songs were rejected. Ultimately he scrapped almost 200 pieces of music from the initial Mario Party soundtrack, which is a personal record for him. It turns out that the music director was looking for big band jazz specifically rather than just simple jazz, so Mitsuda has “the bitter memory of being like, ‘seriously?!'”

First 4 Figures is creating yet another statue based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, with Urbosa getting the spotlight this time around. Pre-orders just opened on the company’s website today.
First 4 Figures says that Urbosa’s “dynamic pose makes her appear in mid-twirl, with her skirt and hair flowing free.” The design for the base has the Sheikah Eye symbol, which is consistent with the other statues in the First 4 Figures The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild lineup.

Following his previous videos detailing development on games in the Kirby series, Masahiro Sakurai has released a new video on his channel providing a closer look at Super Smash Bros’ development.
Sakurai mentions that after Kirby Super Star’s launch was wrapped up, he moved onto independent 3D study, and proposed two games for the Nintendo 64: an RC robot adventure game where you would hack into security cameras to progress, and a four player free-for-all fighting game called Dragon King, which would go on to become Super Smash Bros. Sakurai also shares prototype footage of Dragon King in the video.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been given a final rating by the Motion Picture Association. The film was recently added to the official database, and we now know that it will be rated PG.
Unlike ESRB classifications, which often go into detail about games, we don’t have too much information about The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The listing merely states that The Super Mario Bros. Movie is PG for action and mild violence.

Nintendo issues statement on recent labor dispute settlement
Posted on 2 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 0 comments
Earlier this week, Nintendo – along with Ashton Carter, a staffing agency the company works with – reached a settlement with former Nintendo of America QA worker Mackenzie Clifton over a labor dispute. Clifton filed a National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) complaint this past April.
Clifton believes they were fired after asking a question about unionization during a company meeting. However, Nintendo maintained that the decision was made since “confidential information” had been disclosed. In any case, the two sides reached a settlement, and Clifton will be receiving nearly $30,000. Nintendo must also post a notice for 60 consecutive days via email as well as on-site at its office that informs its QA workers of their rights under the National Labor Relations Act.
