Nintendo UK shared a rather random – and very brief – video involving Shigeru Miyamoto today. Fans are being asked to guess the amiibo Miyamoto tries to impersonate in the video below. So… who’s that amiibo?

It was only a few days ago that we received word about Miitomo, Nintendo’s first mobile application, releasing on March 17 in Japan. Interestingly, My Nintendo will also begin service on this day. eShop purchases (aside from tickets, DLC, and 3DS themes) will be eligible.

It’s still unclear when Miitomo and My Nintendo will be launching in the west. This should be taking place before the end of the month, however.

Nintendo has set April 27 as the date for its earnings report on the past fiscal year. While we have no idea what all will be discussed, these reports are often where the company details some of their plans for the coming months or year, so it’s a date to keep on the radar.

Here’s the news as relayed by analyst Dr. Serkan Toto:

Tuesday brings with it the usual Pokémon Shuffle update, this time adding in a variety of Pokémon to catch for both the mobile and 3DS versions. Two brand new stages have been added: a timed stage for Noivern, and a safari stage that will let you catch Hoothoot, Noctowl, Houndour, Houndoom, Pineco, Forretress, and Noibat. Both of these stages will run until March 29th.

Additionally, there are two returning stages. Landorus will run until March 22nd, with players only able to play once a day, but the catch rate increasing every day. Also, special Rotom stages have returned, with Rotom’s form changing daily. Rotom will not be playable on Saturdays or Sundays.

We have more footage from the Wii U Virtual Console version of Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2, which came out last week in Europe. Check out the latest video below.

Update: Japanese update notes are up, confirming that it’s pretty much about stability. When the English notes are published, they should say: “Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience”.

3DS has received a new firmware update. Starting now, system owners can download version 10.7.0-32.

We’ll update this post when Nintendo publishes the official update notes. Given recent version changes though, don’t expect too much other than improved system stability.

Hive Jump, Graphite Lab’s upcoming sci-fi action-platformer, will offer co-op with up to four players. There are plans to make this feature available both locally and online on PC, but it’s been confirmed that the Wii U version will only support the former option.

Graphite Lab’s Matt Raithel told Fragments of Silicon in a podcast interview:

“That’s something where we felt like the platform certainly is kind of a party platform. We love playing games on Wii U in kind of party mode. So we don’t have online in the plans for Wii U, but it will be for PC.”

One feature included in the Wii U version of Hive Jump is being able to look at the mini-map on the GamePad. amiibo support is also in the cards, and the studio is looking into the possibility of other features like off-TV play.

Thanks to Henrique R for the tip.
