New Monster Hunter X details: monster variants
Posted on 9 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in 3DS, News | 0 comments
Yesterday’s Famitsu scans featured quite an extensive look at Monster Hunter X. Most of the focus was on monster variants which are, well, variants of existing monsters with different looks and behavior patterns. Adam Evanko AKA Gaijinhunter took an in-depth look at the Famitsu scans in a video which you can find below, but here’s a small overview of the monster variants detailed in the magazine:
- Darkflame Rathalos: lots of airtime and new breath attacks
- Deadly Princess Rathian: focuses on poison attacks
- Crimson Bear Arzuros: characteristic red mane, powerful attacks with his arms
- Fortress Daimyo: high defense, hard to crack
- Bouldercrusher Tetsucabra: berserk, powerful jaw attacks
- Whitegale Nargacuga: really fast, shoots shockwaves when it attacks
- Gold Thunder Zinoger: has undergone an “awakening” and now has powerful homing lightning attacks

Junichi Masuda possibly teases Pokemon-related news in tonight’s Direct
Posted on 9 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in News, Rumors | 23 Comments
Junichi Masuda, known for his work on the Pokemon series, just made a tweet in which he’s telling people to watch today’s Nintendo Direct.
Obviously, this might not mean anything. There have been times in the past where a creator, such as Masahiro Sakurai or Soraya Saga of Monolith Soft, tweeted about an upcoming Nintendo Direct which led people to speculate that said Direct would feature news from their respective games, but it didn’t end up happening after all. Still, I figured it was worth pointing out.
Assuming today’s Direct will feature something Pokemon-related, what could it be? Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon seems unlikely since the game is already out in Japan and Masuda probably wouldn’t announce news about it like this to his mostly Japanese Twitter audience. News about the Wii U version of Pokken Tournament are definitely a possibility, however Game Freak was barely involved with the development of that game, which was handled by Bandai Namco instead. Pokemon GO is unlikely since Nintendo have said that the Direct will only feature Wii U and 3DS games. What most people would probably want to see is news about a new mainline Pokemon game, such as the rumoured Pokemon Z. It seems like a foregone conclusion that there will be another 3DS Pokemon game set in the Kalos region, but who knows if it will be announced today.
Either way, we will know for sure in about 12 hours when the Direct airs.

This new level was the winner of a course-creation contest hosted by Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. Creator Vanilla KONDO said the following about it:
“I combined ideas from courses I’ve already uploaded and added a few new tricks too. Mario’s adorable yet reliable partner Yoshi plays a big role from beginning to end.”

Posted on 9 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Wii U eShop | 0 comments
Replay: VHS is not Dead is planned for release on Wii U, a listing on the USK confirms.
The game debuted earlier this year on a few platforms, including Steam. It’s a puzzle-platformer title which takes place in a movie-based universe. Players can record their characters’ movements and use remote control powers to combine actions through roughly 70 levels.
Continue on below for a story overview as well as a trailer.
It is an ordinary Saturday evening for Harvey Hachess as he leaves his favorite video club for a movie night. On his way back, he gets caught in the middle of a rain and a threatening storm. Suddenly, he’s hit by a lightning strike! Knocked out for few minutes, he goes on as if nothing had happened.
Once home, Harvey gets comfortable and plays a video tape, a bag of popcorn in one hand and the remote control in the other one. But something seems wrong as he realize that some scenes are missing from the movie! He puts in another tape, same result… He, then, checks all his cassettes one by one but stays out of luck.
As the last tape was ejected, the VCR made a strange sound and the screen lightened up. Harvey founds himself sucked into the TV. He finds there a great opportunity to re-record all the tapes without risking the loss of his Video Club membership.
