Yesterday, speculation began to surface about Microsoft going all in on Switch. Rumor has it that Nintendo’s console will be getting an app with support for Xbox Game Pass and Project xCloud, and we could even be seeing games such as Ori and the Blind Forest on the system.
French site JeuxVideo has followed up with its own report. The site makes new claims such as Cuphead possibly landing on Switch, and the potential of Microsoft’s top franchises making an appearance.
Rumor: Microsoft planning Xbox Game Pass and more for Switch
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 0 comments
A couple of years ago, Microsoft started a gaming subscription service known as Xbox Game Pass. By paying a certain amount, players can gain access to a library of Xbox One and Xbox 360 titles. Rumor has it that Xbox Game Pass will be making its way to Switch in the future – and possibly more from Microsoft.
The speculation originated from Direct-Feed Games, who claims that an Xbox app is in the works for Switch. This would support Xbox Game Pass and the Project xCloud streaming service. The latter could allow for titles that wouldn’t be technically possible on Switch by streaming them online. Game Informer backs up some of these claims and has heard that “the announcement of Game Pass on Switch could come as soon as this year.”

Rumor: Nintendo may make Switch VR-related announcement as early as this year
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 0 comments
According to a report from Nintendo World Report, “Nintendo could make its first VR-related announcement as early as this year”. Emily Rogers, who wrote the piece, cites having heard about this from “multiple sources.” Rogers adds that “a small, select number of traditional first-party software titles may receive VR support in the not-so-distant future.”
Nintendo has commented on the possibility of virtual reality in the past, but has never made a clear indication that such a feature is planned for Switch. We’ll have to see how things pan out in the future.

Rumor: Nintendo was planning Mother 3 localization, but decided against it due to controversial aspects
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 0 comments
For many years, one of the Nintendo rumors that continued to surface time and time again was a possible localization of Mother 3. After EarthBound Beginnings was added to the Wii U Virtual Console back in 2015, things looked even more hopeful. Speculation has since started to die down though, and we haven’t really heard much about the game’s status.
Game Informer senior editor Imran Khan claims to have some information about what happened. Khan says, “It was full steam ahead for a while but upon re-evaluation there were aspects of the game that weren’t going to go without controversy”.
Khan didn’t say what those elements were specifically, but it sounds like Nintendo wasn’t interested in changing the title or censoring it in any way for the western market. That means the idea of localization was abandoned, and Mother 3 remains a game that has only been released in Japan.

Rumor: February 2019 Nintendo Direct planned for next week
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, Rumors | 0 comments
The last general Nintendo Direct aired last September. Based on that, this is officially the longest we’ve gone between presentations. Because of the lack of Nintendo Directs and uncertainty regarding when certain Switch games will be released this year, fans are getting a bit antsy. Depending on what you believe though, we may not have to wait much longer.
It may seem a bit strange to be sharing a rumor about an upcoming Nintendo Direct, but stick with us here for a second. To put it simply, ResetERA user “king zell” has suggested February 13 as a day the next presentation will air (or announced if nothing else). He wrote on the forum’s Nintendo Direct speculation thread, “13 is your lucky number….. and am out”.

Rumor: Nikkei claims smaller Switch is coming, Nintendo planning new service for this year
Posted on 5 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 0 comments
Update: After having three separate translators look at Nikkei’s article, we believe what we have shared in this post is accurate. To clarify, the publication claims that Nintendo will be strengthening its monthly paid service, Nintendo Switch Online, which launched last September. It does not elaborate by saying whether this is an update/upgrade to Nintendo Switch Online, something separate, etc. Whether Nikkei is wrong or misreporting this or not remains to be seen.
Original: In a new report today, Japanese publication Nikkei claims to have information regarding Nintendo’s future plans for Switch. According to the outlet, a smaller version of the Switch is in the works and may release as early as this year.
Nikkei also claims that Nintendo is readying some sort of new service for this year aimed at game enthusiasts. However, further details were not provided.

An image surfaced online today showing what appears to be new amiibo for the Super Smash Bros. line. We’re able to get first looks at the likes of Pokemon Trainer and Snake. Additionally, Ivysaur, Squirtle, Dark Samus, Chrom, Simon, and Richter are listed.
Apparently, the image stems from a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate guide that was made available in Japan this week. That being said, take this with a grain of salt as its origins have not been officially confirmed.
