Switch

This week’s issue of Famitsu reveals the top 100 best-selling games of 2017. A ton of games on Nintendo platforms made the list. In fact, 3DS and Nintendo Switch titles make up the full top ten.

Pokemon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon was the top-seller on 3DS and overall with just over two million copies sold. Splatoon 2 follows second with over 1.75 million units sold.

If anything has become a meme in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, it would be the battle dialogue from certain enemy soldiers you encounter. This has taken on a life of its own due to how often their lines are repeated, especially in short bursts.

These lines may ring a bell if you’ve played through Xenoblade Chronicles 2:

– “Think you can take me?”
– “Don’t forget me!”
– “You’re done!”

Switch has actually sold more units in its first ten months in Portugal than Wii U managed to in five years. To date, the system has moved 20,000 units. That may not seem like a whole lot, but Switch still managed to already reach a major milestone in Portugal, surpassing Nintendo’s previous console in less than a year.

Nintendo Switch

Gadgets 360 is reporting that Nintendo employees have been visiting India as it evaluates games from studios for potential release on its platforms. Bengaluru-based Holy Cow Productions posted a message on Facebook earlier today backing up the claim:

Nintendo hasn’t had much of a presence in India, and the Switch isn’t actually available for purchase at the moment. Still, the system is still being sold unofficially online and offline. Gadgets 360 has also heard from a buyer for a large format retail chain, “We see more customers asking for the Nintendo Switch than they do for the PS4 or Xbox One.”

Update: Bumped to the top. Patch notes added below.

Original: Nintendo released a new update for Splatoon 2 earlier this week that made a bunch of changes. Unfortunately, that patch introduced some new issues. Because of that, Nintendo has prepared yet another update – version 2.2.1.

Nintendo hasn’t provided the patch notes for this latest Splatoon 2 update just yet. When we have them, we’ll add them in here.

A new video from Digital Foundry examines the Switch version of Dragon Quest Builders. We’re able to get a better idea regarding how the game holds up technically, and how it compares to the PlayStation 4 version.

Dragon Quest Builders runs at 720 when docked rather than going for a higher resolution. That’s because the developers were targeting 60 frames per second. Also, this allowed for much of the visual quality from the PlayStation 4 version to be preserved.

Nintendo Labo

If you only watched the first couple of seconds of this week’s Nintendo Labo trailer, you might get the impression that Nintendo is trying to do something with VR. It could remind you of something like Google Cardboard. But as the trailer progresses, you’ll quickly realize that Nintendo is going for something that’s rather different.

Nintendo Labo also isn’t intended to be an answer to VR. That’s according to Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, who spoke with Toronto Sun about the new initiative.
