Sonic Forces devs on bringing the game to Switch, including frame rate and resolution

Some of the developers working on Sonic Forces such as Sonic Team boss Takashi Iizuka and producer Shun Nakamura have shared some information about the process of bringing the to Switch. That includes details about the game’s performance.
First up, Sonic Forces is officially 30 frames per second on Switch. Interestingly though, the controls are 60. Doing so still allows players to control Sonic in a precise manner. Since the game would become something different at 30 FPS, having the hybrid solution with the controls allowed the team to preserve gameplay.

Fire Emblem Warriors debuted in Japan last week. On Switch, the game sold a little over 40,000 copies. The New 3DS version also moved just under 20,000 units. Dengeki further adds that Fire Emblem Warriors sold through 50 percent of its initial shipment.
The one somewhat comparison we have is Hyrule Warriors. On Wii U, the game sold a bit under 70,000 units with a 57 percent sell-through. Later on, Hyrule Warriors Legends sold about 56,000 copies with a 60 percent sell-through.

Nintendo UK removes mention of Spring 2018 launch for Project Octopath Traveler
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 21 Comments
After several months of silence, Project Octopath Traveler reappeared during the latest Nintendo Direct. It was one of the big games Nintendo ended up showcasing during the showcase. Even better, a demo was released shortly after the presentation.
The only official release window for Project Octopath Traveler is 2018. However, in a Nintendo UK post, the RPG was recently listed for the more specific Spring 2018.
Fast forward a couple of weeks later, and that mention is now gone. Nintendo UK wiped “Spring 2018” off of its site completely. In its place is the vague 2018 window. Was it a mistake, or did Nintendo say something it wasn’t supposed to?

Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 11 Comments
The third European Splatfest in Splatoon 2 has drawn to a close in what might be the strangest overall topic yet. Players were asked how they prefer the toilet roll to be hanging – front or behind.
Team Front Roll was by far the bigger choice in terms of popularity, and also secured the win in solo battles. While Team Back Roll won in team battles, it wasn’t enough to put them over the edge. Front Roll was victorious with a score of 2 to 1.

Dragon Quest XI for Switch seemingly built with Unreal Engine 4, likely based on the PS4 version
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 52 Comments
Ever since Dragon Quest XI was confirmed for Switch – which was quite a long time ago at this point – we’ve been wondering what sort of game it would be. Many had assumed that it would be based on the PlayStation 4 version, but Square Enix never actually came out with any sort of official word on that front. In fact, we’ve heard almost nothing about the Switch release.
The Unreal Fest East 2017 taking place in Japan today finally offers some notable information. Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii was in attendance, and strongly suggested that the Switch version will be based on the PlayStation 4 edition.
