Virtuos has worked on all sorts of ports and remasters in the past. Their previous projects include Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age, Final Fantasy X/X-2, HD, Batman: Return to Arkham, Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection, and plenty more.

Now the studio is turning its attention to Switch. As spotted by Doctre81, senior programmer Xiaoyu Zhang states on LinkedIn that he’s involved with the porting process of a AAA title.

Here’s the relevant excerpt:

WIP: Porting a AAA title to Nintendo Switch
– Re-implement the renderer with Nintendo’s native graphics API(nvn)
– Design and implement the low level mechanism of graphics resource management and threading
– Exploit the performance advantages of the Vulkan-like API (UMA, explicit management of graphics memory, complete control over CPU/GPU synchronization, etc)

Zhang has been working at Virtuous since last March. It’s unclear how long the Switch project has been in development for, however.

The situation with Telltale releases on Switch is a bit of a mystery. Various retailers have listed Guardians of the Galaxy on Nintendo’s console over the past few months, for example. Batman: The Telltale Series has also popped up on store listings.

So when Batman reappeared at select retailers earlier this week, we didn’t think there was much to those listings. But perhaps there is something going on here after all.

GameFly just added in an entry for Batman: The Telltale Series on Switch today. It contains an October 31 release date, though that’s no doubt temporary. The interesting thing to consider here is that GameFly has a very good track record. We can’t say that GameFly is an absolute confirmation, but it’s a good sign about Telltale possibly bringing its Batman series to Switch.

NBA 2K18 has been delayed on Switch… sort of.

The main launch of the sports title is taking place on September 19. While NBA 2K18 will still be coming to Switch on that day digitally, the physical version will not. NBA 2K18 will hit store shelves on Nintendo’s console sometime this fall.

2K and parent company Take-Two Interactive have not provided a reason for the delay.
