A new Wii U bundle has released in Australia, in anticipation of the holidays. The bundle is currently available and includes Mario Kart 8 pre-installed and a download code for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. It is priced at AU $429.95. Furthermore, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze and Pikmin 3 have both been added to the Nintendo Selects list for Australia, each priced at AU $49.95. Sooner rather than later, the Wii U will be meetings its end. The Switch will be here to replace it in just a few months. And if that wasn’t enough, Nintendo said this week that production of Wii U will be ending in Japan soon. The final shipments for the fiscal year were also already sent to North American retailers.

With Wii U on its way out, I was thinking it might be nice to hold a dedicated Let’s Talk topic to the system. Four years later, how do you feel about it? Another retailer’s Black Friday 2016 deals are in. This time around, we have a look at what Toys “R” Us will be offering later this month.

There aren’t quite as many highlights at Toys “R” Us compared to some of the other stores we’ve seen. However, Super Mario Maker will be $20 off while Minecraft: Wii U Edition and Tumblestone will be discounted by $10.

Nintendo is once again conducting Wii U and 3DS early next week. Certain network services such as online play and rankings will be impacted for a couple of hours on Monday in North America, and Tuesday in Europe.

The schedule is as follows:

News surfaced earlier today that Wii U production will soon be ending in Japan. Nintendo of America has since commented on the situation and provided an update regarding the console’s status in North America.

In terms of what’s happening in the states, Nintendo says “all Wii U hardware that will be made available in the North American market for this fiscal year has already been shipped to our retail partners.” Those who are interested are advised to keep check of availability with retailers.

Nintendo’s full statement reads:

“As recently posted by Nintendo on the Wii U website in Japan, Wii U production will end in the near future for the Japanese domestic market. We have nothing to announce in terms of exact timing.

We can confirm that as of today, all Wii U hardware that will be made available in the North American market for this fiscal year has already been shipped to our retail partners. We encourage anyone who wants Wii U to communicate with their preferred retail outlet to monitor availability.”
