Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition

This week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation has an interview with Tales of Vesperia producer Yoshito Higuchi and Tales of Vesperia: Definitive Edition producer Yusuke Tomizawa. The two spoke about wanting to make the series multiplatform, interest in the team challenging itself for future entries, and more.

Here’s the roundup of tidbits shared:

Throughout the life cycle of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U / 3DS, Nintendo prepared extra Mii Fighter costumes. We haven’t really seen this yet for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, but that could be changing in the future.

Over on Nintendo’s customer support website, there’s a page for available Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC. It specifically mentions “Mii Fighter Costume” as part of that downloadable content. It states that one costume is included for $0.75, with a release planned for 2019.

We do have a small bit of doubt that Nintendo will be going all out with Mii Fighter costume DLC for Smash Bros. Ultimate. Though it could very well happen, we can’t help but wonder if the customer support site is referring to Rex. That Xenoblade Chronicles 2 outfit can only be obtained by purchasing the Fighters Pass currently. The fact that the page lists just a single costume may point to a wide release of the Rex costume. Either way, we should know come next year.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been in the works for quite some time having been funded on Kickstarter back in 2015. After a few years of development, the project is finally coming closer towards completion.

Creator Koji Igarashi stated in a Kickstarter today that development has now “reached its peak”. Igarashi provided the following status update:

Dragon Quest Builders 2 ended up selling roughly 200,000 copies in its first week, according to Media Create. The sales split between the Switch and PlayStation 4 versions were pretty similar, with Nintendo’s console just slightly behind. Dengeki adds that Dragon Quest Builders 2 sold through 50% of its initial shipment in Japan.

How does that stack up to the original? Well, it’s a bit difficult to compare since the first entry in the Dragon Quest Builders series came out on Switch well long after the initial release. However, the original title did end up selling 368,000 copies in its first week on the PlayStation 4, so Dengeki feels that initial sales are a bit on the slow side. We’ll hopefully see things pick up for the year-end and New Year sales.

The next round of the ARMS Party Crash Bash is almost here. For those who missed it, the event is being held to determine the game’s best character.

The fourth round will be going live next week. This time around, it’ll be Twintelle and Byte & Barq battling it out. The theme is “Bodyguard Recruiting”.

The latest ARMS Party Crash Bash event goes live on January 4. It’ll last until January 7.

Thanks to Magitroopa for the tip.
