Several new games out came out this week on the eShop. If you’re interested in checking out what’s new in screenshot form, take a look at the gallery below.

Amazon Japan updated its listing for Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, showing the back of the box. Twitter user theprinceofiris noticed what appears to be a new collaboration costume. In the game, it seems as though Itsuki will be able to wear an outfit based on Persona 5’s Joker.

Alexey Pajitnov created one of the most important and influential games of all times in Tetris. The classic title has been released on plenty of different platforms over the past few decades in different forms and is a big reason why the Game Boy was as successful as it was.

Tetris 99 was Nintendo’s take on the battle royal genre, and might be the most interesting version of Tetris yet. What does Pajitnov think of the Switch release? He’s actually appreciative of what was done with Tetris 99, telling USgamer that it “is absolutely a great title.”

He mentioned to the site:

Whereas Wii U struggled to get new games throughout its lifecycle, the situation has been much different for Switch. New games continue to lands on the system every day. That’s particularly evident in the weekly Nintendo Download report, where it’s not uncommon to see over a dozen new releases.

According to the NPD’s Mat Piscatella, the company tracked more than 1,480 new releases on Switch in the United States in 2019. That stacks up favorably to other consoles, as it’s actually over 400 more than the PS4 and Xbox One combined.

Piscatella also compared the situation to another successful Nintendo console – that being the Wii. Here’s a chart showing how the first three calendar years of Switch and Wii stack up against each other:

Pokemon GO has updated with some new content. Trading Evolution is here, meaning trading certain Pokemon will result in no Candy cost to evolve them. Players can also encounter more Pokemon from the Unova region in the mobile game.

Below are the full details on today’s additions:

Mighty Switch Force! Collection, which was previously distributed on the Switch eShop, is now getting a physical version. WayForward and Limited Run Games are partnering together, which will also bring about a special collector’s edition. The special release will come with a soundtrack CD, badge enamel pin, reversible poster, and 1:1 floppy disc USB drive.

Pre-orders for the physical version of Mighty Switch Force! Collection open on January 17 at 10 AM ET, followed by a second batch at 6 PM ET.

Shantae developer WayForward has dated its Switch exclusive Vitamin Connection. The game is launching digitally on February 20, though a physical version will also be distributed at a later date through Limited Run Games.

Today, the Nintendo UK store opened pre-orders for Animal Crossing: New Horizon. Two different bonuses are up for grabs. You can nab either a tote bag or a pins pack, both of which are pictured above.

The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) has announced the finalists for its 23rd Annual D.I.C.E. Awards. The D.I.C.E. Awards recognizes outstanding achievement in video game development with categories focusing on character and story as well as the technical side.

Quite a few Switch games have been nominated, including Untitled Goose Game for “Outstanding Achievement in Character” and Luigi’s Mansion 3 for “Outstanding Achievement in Animation.” The D.I.C.E. Awards also announce Game of the Year categories and both Luigi’s Mansion 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening are nominated for “Adventure Game of the Year.”

Nintendo has just released a new trailer for Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore taking an in-depth look at the battle system. The over five minute video gives a voiced walk-through of each stage of a typical battle sequence. This includes “Session Attacks,” “Special Performances,” and more. The full trailer is available to view below.
