At the Tokyo Game Show today, Square Enix hosted a live stream featuring World of Final Fantasy Maxima. A few minutes of footage can be found below.

Hamster is currently hosting a live stream on Niconico from the Tokyo Game Show. During the event, several new NeoGeo games were announced for Switch.

The King of Fighters 2001, Zupapa!, 3 Count Bout, Pleasure Goal, Savage Reign, and Strikers 1945 Plus are on the way. Bust-A-Move and Bust-A-Move Again were also reconfirmed.

No word on specific release dates at this time. However, these games should be rolled out gradually in the near future.

Nintendo games are quite often known for their wide appeal. The Mario series sells well because not only are they generally good games, but anyone can grab a controller and enjoy themselves. On the other hand, the Xenoblade franchise has always been a bulky RPG; something that those faint of heart and hundreds of hours of free time, may shy away from. Smite fans have been poking through the game’s 5.18 patch and have found something rather interesting. A reference to Switch now exists in the latest engine config file under the Oasis tag. Strings are included for the eShop in which players would be able to purchase gems.

If everything here sounds familiar, that’s because something similar happened with Paladins before it was officially announced for Switch. Hi-Rez Studios is likely preparing its MOBA for Nintendo’s console, though it’s unclear when an official announcement will be made.

Dead Cells has received a new patch on Switch as Motion Twin begins to address some frame rate issues.

Once the patch is installed, a 30 FPS option will be available. Motion Twin says it’s intended for those who are “particularly sensitive to frame rate issues”. It’s more of a “band-aid solution” as the team works on bigger fixes.

As it’s September 23 in Japan, Nintendo is officially one year older. The company was first established on September 23, 1889.

At this point Nintendo’s early history is well-known. It took the company quite some time to get into the gaming business since a number of other initiatives took the focus – such as hanafuda cards.

Nintendo is in one of its strongest positions today, especially compared to a few years ago. The Big N is rolling with the Switch, has some games going in the mobile space, and is pursuing general entertainment options like the Mario movie and Super Nintendo World. Let’s hope the success continues in the near future and long-term.
