The arcade game Zero Gunner 2 is out now for Switch in Japan, and makes its way west this coming Thursday. Check out some footage in the video below.

In the past, when asked about why Monster Hunter World isn’t appearing on Switch, Capcom has been a bit cagey. IGN finally managed to get a concrete answer out of directors Kaname Fujioka and Yuya Tokuda in a new interview.

Fujioka and Tokuda explained that one reason for the lack of Switch plans is due to the game’s lengthy development. Capcom originally started on the project four years ago, and Nintendo’s newest console wasn’t around at that time. Also explained is that, “for every title we decide what the best fit for hardware is for the concept.”

Fujioka and Tokuda’s full words:

During this month’s Nintendo Direct Mini, Ubisoft unveiled the newest character for Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Donkey Kong will be added via the upcoming story DLC.

Creative director Davide Soliani says Donkey Kong’s arms will be used “extensively” in combat. Being a gorilla also affords him more mobility options.

Warner Bros. finally made Scribblenauts Showdown official this week. It’s the first entry in the franchise since A DC Comics Adventure, which saw Wii U and 3DS versions back in 2013.

When Scribblenauts Showdown was first leaked via a classification in Taiwan, series creator 5th Cell was listed as the developer for this title as well. However, it turns out that a different company entirely is working on the game.

Scribblenauts Showdown is being developed by Shiver Entertainment, a studio led by Zynga COO John Schappert and EA Tiburon co-founder Jason Anderson. Since 5th Cell suffered layoffs in 2016 and Scribblenauts: Fighting Words was cancelled for mobile, they haven’t done much since. It makes sense then that a new developer has been tasked with handling the franchise.

Nintendo and Square Enix have formed a fairly close relationship in recent years, particularly in the west. The Big N has long published Dragon Quest games on its platforms in North America and Europe. Additionally, Nintendo will be in charge of Project Octopath Traveler’s release in the west.

The World Ends with You: Final Remix appears to be another Square Enix title Nintendo will publish in North America and Europe. The official North American and European website pages indicate as such. Nintendo also had its name listed for The Worlds Ends with You segment in the English Nintendo Direct Mini whereas the Japanese presentation had Square Enix.

So that’s an interesting little tidbit. Square Enix originally published the DS version of The World Ends with You in the west, but it looks like that duty now falls to Nintendo for Final Remix.

One of the big announcements from this month’s Nintendo Direct was news about a February update for Super Mario Odyssey. This is highlighted by the addition of the new Balloon World mini-game.

Once you complete the main story, Luigi will appear in the different kingdoms and you can partake in “Hide It” and “Find It” modes. These two let you hide and find balloons, of course.

In “Hide It”, ratings are given for:

– Amount of obtained coins
– Times you have played with the balloons

And in “Find It”, ratings are given for:

– Amount of obtained coins
– Total amount of discovered balloons
– Streak number for balloons discovered in short time

While playing Balloon World, each kingdom may have weather or time changes. For example, as shown in the Nintendo Direct Mini, New Donk City may have rain or Tostarena may have a sunset.

Balloon World isn’t the only aspect of the update, as Nintendo is introducing new outfits and Snapshot Mode filters as well. One interesting thing Nintendo states is that more costumes are planned to be added in February and beyond, so it looks like we can look forward to even more in the future.
