Nintendo and Square Enix have formed a fairly close relationship in recent years, particularly in the west. The Big N has long published Dragon Quest games on its platforms in North America and Europe. Additionally, Nintendo will be in charge of Project Octopath Traveler’s release in the west.
The World Ends with You: Final Remix appears to be another Square Enix title Nintendo will publish in North America and Europe. The official North American and European website pages indicate as such. Nintendo also had its name listed for The Worlds Ends with You segment in the English Nintendo Direct Mini whereas the Japanese presentation had Square Enix.
So that’s an interesting little tidbit. Square Enix originally published the DS version of The World Ends with You in the west, but it looks like that duty now falls to Nintendo for Final Remix.
One of the big announcements from this month’s Nintendo Direct was news about a February update for Super Mario Odyssey. This is highlighted by the addition of the new Balloon World mini-game.
Once you complete the main story, Luigi will appear in the different kingdoms and you can partake in “Hide It” and “Find It” modes. These two let you hide and find balloons, of course.
In “Hide It”, ratings are given for:
– Amount of obtained coins
– Times you have played with the balloons
And in “Find It”, ratings are given for:
– Amount of obtained coins
– Total amount of discovered balloons
– Streak number for balloons discovered in short time
While playing Balloon World, each kingdom may have weather or time changes. For example, as shown in the Nintendo Direct Mini, New Donk City may have rain or Tostarena may have a sunset.
Balloon World isn’t the only aspect of the update, as Nintendo is introducing new outfits and Snapshot Mode filters as well. One interesting thing Nintendo states is that more costumes are planned to be added in February and beyond, so it looks like we can look forward to even more in the future.
Fire Emblem Heroes has updated with its latest content. As of now, players can access the Refined Weapons special maps, which feature enemies holding strengthened refined weapons.
You can take on five maps with three difficulty maps each. In other words, there’s a total of 15 maps where you can earn Refining Stones and Orbs. Note that quests will be available during the same period as well.
Splatoon 2 had a big update this week which made many changes to multiplayer, Salmon Run, and more. Another patch was also released on Friday to fix a few issues.
As for the next notable update, Nintendo says that it’s planned for the end of February. You can probably look forward to the latest round of game adjustments. When it goes live, we’ll let you know.
Fabraz was hoping to have the Blackbird’s Kraken update ready on Switch this month. That won’t be happening due to an unexpected delay, but the wait won’t be too much longer.

Totes the Goat released on mobile devices a few years ago. That same title is now making its way to Switch, Mutant Mudds developer Atooi announced today.
Studio head Jools Watsham passed along the news on Twitter a short while ago. Although Totes the Goat on Switch will mostly be the same as the mobile version, new characters will be included.
