A new update was issued for Minecraft: Nintendo Switch Edition yesterday, and it was a fairly significant one. When playing docked, the game runs at 1080p as opposed to 720p with previous versions. It makes a big difference with the right TV, especially compared to the initial 720 display.
Digital Foundry has also discovered that texture filtering has received a boost on Switch. No compromises were made, as Minecraft still has a render distance between 11 and 12 chunks while docked. The world is also still at the medium 3072×3072 block setting.
Digital Foundry explores Minecraft’s new patch in detail – including frame rate – in the video below.
Polygon put up a new video today containing 15 minutes of direct-feed footage from the upcoming Switch RPG Lost Sphear. Check it out below.
New Frontier Days: Founding Pioneers has received a first update. Version 1.1 is available, clocking in at 61MB.
The update primarily consists of three aspects. Arc System Works added in a function that lets you select multiple pioneers at once plus more languages, and balanced the story mode. Full details on the update are below.
We finally have an official understanding as to what happened with the Super NES Classic Edition pre-orders on Walmart’s site last Friday. Unfortunately, the retailer is just now sending out emails stating that reservations were open “due to a technical glitch”. It seems that all orders are being cancelled.
Here’s an excerpt from a Walmart order email we received:
A demo for Rayman Legends Definitive Edition went up for a brief time on the European Switch eShop a few days ago. Ubisoft eventually pulled it, but you have to wonder how it went up in the first place.
A representative told Eurogamer that the demo “was an early version of the game, which doesn’t include the latest Switch developments and not a representation of the final product”. Further added is that the demo “was an error”.
The full statement reads:
“We’re aware that Rayman Legends Definitive Edition went live for a short time on the Nintendo eShop. This was an early version of the game, which doesn’t include the latest Switch developments and not a representation of the final product – this was an error which is why it has been taken down. As mentioned in yesterday’s launch announcement, a free demo will be launched this summer ahead of the game’s launch on September 12th.”
The early version of the Rayman Legends Definitive Edition demo had some issues when playing docked. When it returns, it should run much more smoothly.

Pokemon GO Fest may not have been a success, but on the whole, the day itself brought in a whole lot of revenue for Niantic. New data from Sensor Tower indicates that the game saw its highest revenue in a day since last July.
GamesBeat notes that players spent roughly $5.8 million on July 23 on iOS. This is when Lugia and Articuno, the first Legendary Pokemon, were finally pushed out to players.
Sensor Tower adds that Pokemon GO is now number one in the App Store top-grossing chart in 23 countries, such as the United States.
