A new Skylanders game is coming at some point this year. Much of the project has been shrouded in mystery, but the company did say back in February that it will be “innovative”. While Activision has been keeping quiet for the most part, we appear to have an important detail about what’s new in the latest Skylanders entry.

Liam Robertson, who tends to be in the know when it comes to cancelled games and titles that are in development, wrote on Twitter today that this year’s Sklanders will feature vehicles. Robertson also said that the game is planned for all major gaming platforms, which should (unsurprisingly) include Wii U.

Activision has typically announced its Skylanders games in the spring, but this one still hasn’t been officially revealed. Perhaps we’ll hear something at E3?

Target has started sending out an internal memo about next week’s Nintendo releases. A good portion of the letter is about the new amiibo, which launch on May 29.

The big takeaway here is that Target expects quick sell-outs (as expected), but figures “will not be replenished.” It’s also worth stating that there will be a limit of two amiibo characters per guest, and Lucina/Robin won’t be offered “in low-volume stores.”

You can get a look at the memo in full above.

This month’s issue of EDGE has a short interview with the developers behind Yoshi’s Woolly World. The magazine spoke with Nintendo producer Takashi Tezuka as well as executive producer Etsunobu Ebisu from Good-Feel. Given the unique style featured in Yoshi’s Woolly World, the discussion focused on the game’s visuals.

Tezuka first spoke about Yoshi’s Woolly World’s art style in general:

We’ve always felt that Yoshi deserves to have a handcrafted feel to the graphics, and we’ve strived to bring this into games like Yoshi’s Island and Yoshi’s Story. With those previous titles, it was just that – an aesthetic – and didn’t really have much influence on the gameplay itself.

Tezuka also specifically explained the decision to use wool in the title, and how the graphics impact the gameplay:

Mega Man Zero 2 hit the North American Wii U Virtual Console this past Thursday as part of “Mega May”. View some footage from the game below.

1001 Spikes finally received off-TV play support on Wii U through an update that came out a few days ago. While the feature is a great addition, the patch has unfortunately resulted in a few major issues.

The biggest problem we’re hearing about is related to controls. After applying the update, right on the d-pad crouches and pressing the left stick pauses the game instead of start. Basically, there are some notable control mapping issues. There are also other problems like being unable to access the options settings.

It took Nicalis a very long time to patch in off-TV play for 1001 Spikes. I just hope that it won’t take as long for these new bugs to be addressed!
