Nintendo has announced a special national tournament for the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. in celebration of the game’s launch. On October 4, 15 GameStop stores around the country – including the Nintendo World store in New York – will host local tournaments featuring three rounds of four-player battles.

Participants will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis with no pre-registration required. Each local tournament will be comprised of 64 players. Participants can (but are not required to) bring their 3DS system and/or copy of Smash Bros.

There are quite a few changes being made to the rewards system for Club Nintendo in Japan. First, it looks like the gold and platinum ranks will no longer exist come the end of this month, meaning the next lot of rewards being offered to gold and platinum members will be the last. To go along with this, no Club Nintendo points will be offered for registering a New 3DS and going forward only software titles will be eligble for points and not hardware units. At this time, all other regions remain unaffected, and you can check out the final offerings for gold and platinum members below: an exclusive Picross game and 2015 calendar for platinum and just the 2015 calendar for gold members.
