System: 3DS (eShop)
Release date: October 13, 2016
Developer: Arc System Works
Publisher Aksys Games
As the brief opening movie explains, a cold case is when the trail of evidence in a crime investigation has gone cold. Chase: Cold Case Investigations ~Distant Memories~, aside from having a mouthful of a title, is a visual novel following two detectives working in the Tokyo Police Department. The setup is that the case of a five year old murder deemed an accident is reopened after an anonymous phone call to the Cold Case Unit.

[Review] Paper Mario: Color Splash
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Reviews, Wii U | 79 Comments
System: Wii U
Release date: October 7, 2016
Developer: Intelligent Systems
Publisher Nintendo
To a certain degree, Paper Mario might just be the most popular spin-off series that the overall Mario franchise has spawned. What Paper Mario lacks in number of titles, it more than compensates with its fleshed out and devastatingly charismatic worlds – for the most part. Home to some of Nintendo fans’ favorite titles, it’s no understatement to say this collection of games might just be one of the best the big N continues to put out, which is why it so confusing they haven’t been treating it that way. With a more than all over the place prequel on 3DS, Color Splash brings this series back to the home console, and hopes to right the wrongs Sticker Star caused. Now, despite looking, feeling, and sounding just like Sticker Star 2, rest easy, because Paper Mario: Color Splash is anything but.

System: 3DS
Release date: September 30, 2016
Developer: Level-5
Publisher Nintendo
One year ago, Nintendo and Level-5 graced us with the surprise hit Japan has enjoyed for a while by bringing Yo-kai Watch over to the west. This year, we’re getting Yo-kai Watch 2 in two separate versions: Bony Spirits and Fleshy Souls. While Japan has enjoyed the second entry long before we got the first, it’s nice to see both titles finally making their way over in 2016 to give 3DS owners and fans of the original something to look forward to once again.

[TGS 2016] Monster Hunter Stories impressions
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Previews | 8 Comments
Nintendo Everything was at this year’s Tokyo Game Show! We had a low-key presence at the event, but we did manage to try out several upcoming Japanese 3DS titles. Look for our impressions in the coming days.
Monster Hunter Stories is one of the most anticipated upcoming 3DS games that is coming soon to Japan – October 8 specifically. Of course, it had a large area at Capcom’s Tokyo Game Show 2016 booth, and many people lined up to try it.
When we entered the Monster Hunter Stories exhibit, we were first shown a couple of trailers (which are actually not exclusive and also watchable on Capcom’s Japanese YouTube page) and some explanations about the game system. Following that, we were sent to the demo tables and were given ten minutes to play.

[Let’s Talk] Your NX reveal predictions
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Let's Talk, Switch | 51 Comments
Assuming Nintendo doesn’t have an imminent surprise in store, we still won’t know what the NX actually is by the end of next week. That means September will have come and gone without a reveal. I personally did believe that we would be seeing the system this month, but that’s looking incredibly unlikely at this point.
Common sense would tell you that Nintendo will finally show us what the NX has to offer next month. The company’s Q2 earnings release is scheduled for October 26, and I just can’t see the big N going past that date. October also leaves us with six months before March – the month when Nintendo said NX would be launching. Might October finally be our lucky month?
When Nintendo is ready to talk about NX, there’s going to be a lot to show – what the system is, how much it’ll cost, upcoming games, a specific launch date, and plenty more. And hey… NX probably isn’t the final name!
So let’s talk about this a bit. Do you guys have any predictions in store for the NX’s unveiling? Do you have a certain date in mind as to when the NX will be properly announced and when it will be released? What projects from Nintendo – and other game makers – do you see being present at the event? Any name predictions? Let us know in the comments below!

[TGS 2016] Megami Meguri impressions
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Previews | 1 Comment
Nintendo Everything was at this year’s Tokyo Game Show! We had a low-key presence at the event, but we did manage to try out several upcoming Japanese 3DS titles. Look for our impressions in the coming days.
Megami Meguri is Capcom’s upcoming new 3DS game where players communicate with and raise an IC card spirit. The regular game, a free-to-play experience, will be fully downloadable from the eShop. However, there will be also physical Collector’s Package (at 5,800 yen) and a limited Complete Edition at e-Capcom (9,800 yen) that will also come with extra memorabilia.
A demo of Megami Meguri was available at Tokyo Game Show 2016. When we started playing, Amaterasu greeted us in her human form, explaining what we are expected to do to raise the spirit, before converting to a chibi form.
