Axiom Verge dev on Switch chances: “Probably, eventually”
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 2 Comments
Axiom Verge is already out on one Nintendo platform – that being Wii U, of course. But creator Tom Happ has previously shown interest in bringing the game to Switch, which he recently reiterated on Twitter.
When asked about Axiom Verge for Switch, Happ said the following:
@GrayAdamson Probably, eventually.
— Tom Happ (@AxiomVerge) January 22, 2017
Happ did say Axiom Verge happening on Switch was “fairly likely” back in August, though he was a bit less certain at the time.

Switch pre-orders off to a strong start in Japan, reportedly over 80% of initial shipment
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 120 Comments
Initial Media Create data for the week of January 16 came in earlier this week. However, the sales tracker now provides some extra information about the Japanese market, including an important note about Switch.
Media Create says that Switch pre-orders have already surpassed 80 percent of the system’s initial shipment. While we sadly don’t have a specific number for Switch’s initial shipment in Japan, the fact that it’s already sold through such a high percentage is encouraging. This was also done just after pre-orders opened last weekend.

Aonuma doesn’t think VR is well-suited for Zelda
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in General Nintendo, News | 47 Comments
Gameblog was recently given the opportunity to interview Eiji Aonuma, the producer of Zelda. At one point, Aonuma was asked about his thoughts regarding Zelda and virtual reality.
At least for the time being, the two aren’t a match. VR allows the player to see the world from their own point of view. With Zelda, however, the purpose is to watch Link grow.
Aonuma’s words are roughly translated as follows.
“You know, one of the interests of the Zelda games is to evolve Link and therefore see him grow. In VR, you would no longer see Link, you would see the world from your personal point of view, so I think it would not be very ‘Zelda'”.

Link’s memories in Zelda: Breath of the Wild and how they may tie into the gameplay
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch, Wii U | 12 Comments
It’s well known at this point that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild begins with Link not having memories. In the game world, 100 years have passed by the time you’re able to control the character.
Link’s memory loss appears to have a greater importance to the overall gameplay than some would have initially thought. Since some folks may consider the next bit of information to be spoiler-related, head past the break if you’d like to learn more.

Mario Sports Superstars details – two unlockable characters, amiibo cards count and functionality
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, News | 1 Comment
Nintendo shared new details about Mario Sports Superstars, which was just confirmed for a March 10 launch in Europe.
To recap, soccer (football in Europe), tennis, golf, baseball and horse racing are included. Single-player tournaments will be included, along with local and online multiplayer modes.
Here’s a rundown of the different sports and features:
“With five fully-fledged sports games included, Mario Sports Superstars offers something for everyone. Football fans will compete in full-on 11-a-side matches, and will need to master both team tactics and individual skills in order to be victorious. Fans of the Mario Golf and Mario Tennis series will be familiar with the classic gameplay on offer in the golf and tennis games here, developed by Camelot Software Planning. Baseball fans will need to work on their batting and pitching techniques, as heavy-hitters such as Bowser are lining up to knock it out of the park in the first Mario-themed baseball title to be released in Europe in over 10 years. In Horse Racing, aspiring jockeys must saddle up, jump over obstacles and gallop to the finish line first to be crowned as champion. Collecting carrots along the way will replenish your stamina, while collecting stars will enable you to use the special Star Dash technique, greatly improving your chances of victory. Players can also show their caring side by visiting their favourite horses in the Stable. By petting, feeding and grooming a horse, players can build a special bond with it which will work to their advantage on the racing track.

Once again, another Zelda: Breath of the Wild-focused interview with series producer Eiji Aonuma is online. Gamekult was able to ask the developer about various topics, ranging from the physics engine to Monolith Soft’s role.
We have a summary after the break. However, we’ll also be looking to eventually provide a native translation of the interview, since some parts of the discussion just aren’t clear without knowledge of French.
