Nintendo announced today that its 75th annual shareholder’s meeting will be held on June 26th at 10 AM JST at the company’s Kyoto headquarter.

Other than a report on Nintendo’s past fiscal year (April 1, 2014 – March 31, 2015), the main point of interest at the meeting will be a vote to (re)instate ten Directors at the company, as the terms of office of ten of them will expire at that time. However, every single one of them (Satoru Iwata, Genyo Takeda, Shigeru Miyamoto, Tatsumi Kimishima, Shigeyuki Takahashi, Satoshi Yamato, Susumu Tanaka, Shinya Takahashi, Hirokazu Shinshi and Naoki Mizutani) is running for those offices again and there are no other candidates, so there should be no surprises as all of them will likely be re-elected.

The distribution of the company’s shares will also be a focus at the meeting. Some recent updates on the current state of shares:

  • The Master Trust Bank of Japan, Ltd. (Trust Account) has climbed from 1.98% to 2.54%
  • Katsuhito Yamauchi (the son of the late Hiroshi Yamauchi) has climbed from 1.98% to 2.37%
  • Banjo Yamauchi (unknown relation to Hiroshi Yamauchi) is gone from the list of major shareholders
  • Northern Trust Co. (AVFC) Sub A/C Non Treaty is gone from the list of major shareholders

You can find some more granular information about the meeting and the current state of the company in the official shareholder’s meeting notice and this information disclosure about the notice.

In the HD world we live in, we’re spoiled by the copious amount of pixels that deliver us vibrant colors in a sequence of images on our TV screens and phones. Each pixel helps support the next, all the while providing a fragment of whatever is being displayed – regardless of resolution. In the Pixel Kingdom, those who have more pixels live in luxury. The other “low-rez” inhabitants live basic, humble lives. After a terrible attack threatens those with many pixels, all watch in absolute terror except for one that was bound to save the day. A single pixel. Enter Pip.

Hot on the heels of the Monster Hunter X announcement over the weekend, Famitsu shares more details about the new 3DS game in its latest issue.

Monster Hunter X features 14 weapon classes. Players will be able to choose from the Great Sword, Long Sword, Sword and Shield, Dual Blades, Lance, Gunlance, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Switch Axe, Charge Blade, Insect Glaive, Bow, Light Bowgun, and Heavy Bowgun.

Continuing on the topic of numbers, there are four Hunting Styles for all weapons, and you choose one of them. Here’s a breakdown of each:

A new costume based on the Ika Musume (Squid Girl) manga is coming to Splatoon. In August, a free update with the DLC will be released.

This announcement only pertains to Japan at present. We’ll let you know if we hear anything for the west.

Nintendo Life has an extensive interview up with Hisashi Nogami, the producer of Splatoon. Nogami commented on a variety of topics, including the single-player campaign, amiibo, the game’s ability to appeal to different age groups, and more.

Excerpts from the interview are posted after the break. The full discussion can be read here.

Mario Kart 8’s sales have been creeping up to the 1 million mark in Japan over the past few weeks. With the latest data provided by Media Create, it’s been confirmed that the Wii U game has now reached that milestone.

Mario Kart 8 sold another 11,654 copies in Japan between May 25 and May 31. According to Media Create, its lifetime sales are now at 1,006,719 units.

The developers behind Splatoon have commented on the game’s lack of voice chat on numerous occasions. But if that wasn’t enough, producer Hisashi Nogami commented on the situation once again.

Nogami recently mentioned:

We want everyone to play this game from the same point, so that all players – those who haven’t played shooters before, as well as those who have – can enjoy the game. Getting to this though meant going through a selection process for all features that should appear in the game, and as part of this process we decided to leave out voice chat.

We think there are two reasons for wanting to use it: to play strategically, and to know what you opponent is feeling. We designed the game so that it’s still possible to play strategically, while also giving due consideration so that there is no extreme advantage one way or the other. In terms of knowing what your opponent is feeling, we really do understand the fun that can be had with this, but we hope that you will also understand that it can also have a negative effect too.

With various leaks that have surrounding the new Skylanders, it was quite clear that Activision would be making an announcement in the very near future. The publisher took the opportunity to do just that today, and has now made “Skylanders SuperChargers” official.

Here’s the full breakdown:

At the helm of powerful, tricked-out land, sea and sky vehicles, Portal Masters can engage in a high-octane action-adventure videogame like never before. Kids can speed across Skylands’ roads in vehicular combat, race down roaring rapids and engage in aerial dogfights as they barrel-roll through enemy swarms for the first time. Developed by Vicarious Visions, Skylanders SuperChargers offers a rich story-driven gameplay experience, filled with vehicle-based and on-foot adventures, combat, puzzles, mini games, activities and platforming, set within a variety of all-new compelling environments.

Skylanders SuperChargers features a brand-new class of heroes, called SuperChargers who are distinct with fresh moves, powerful attacks and all-new weapons. These SuperChargers also have special in-game abilities that help Portal Masters fight Kaos. Twenty new SuperChargers character toys and 20 new vehicle toys will be available.

Players will have the ability to customize all vehicles in-game with super cool modifications and upgradeable weapons. For the ultimate gameplay experience, players can pair a SuperCharger Skylander with its signature vehicle to create a SuperCharged combination, unlocking an exclusive mod that revs up the performance of both the vehicle and character. Not only are the vehicles playable in the game, but also many feature moving parts, making them fun to play with outside of the game. Additionally, Skylanders SuperChargers supports all 300+ Skylanders toys from previous games, enabling all Skylanders characters to pilot land, sea or sky-based vehicles.

The game’s storyline focuses on Kaos’ latest attempt to rule Skylands. In his efforts to take down the Skylanders, Kaos has unleashed his most sinister weapon ever – a massive “Doomstation of Ultimate Doomstruction” capable of eating the sky itself! Fortunately, Master Eon has seen the warning signs and assembled a special team of Skylanders to pilot an unstoppable fleet of land, sea and sky vehicles with the power to travel through the reign of destruction to stop Kaos!

Just like previous entries in the Skylanders franchise, Skylanders SuperChargers is heading to Wii U, 3DS, and Wii. A Starter Pack will be sold for $74.99, which comes with two new Skylanders characters, a first-of-its kind Skylanders vehicle, newly designed Portal of Power+, and the full game.

Skylanders SuperChargers launches on September 20 in North America, September 24 in Australia/New Zealand, and September 25 in Europe. Check out the first trailer below.
