This week on Nintendo Everything Podcast, Oni Dino and Galen are fighting to the death for the best games of 2020. The lads argued so hard that it had to be a two-parter. Check out the first half of the show where we give awards for Biggest Positive Surprise, Biggest Embarrassment, Best New Character, Best Non-2020 Game, and Best Paperweight. And do tune in later in the week for the second half of the show which will have Biggest Disappointment, Honorable Mentions, and our definitive Game of the Year 2020 award.

As is tradition for Famitsu, the magazine spoke with a ton of different developers about their ambitions for 2021. One developer who participated was Keisuke Kekuchi, who’s leading the Gust brand at Koei Tecmo and is also the producer of Fatal Frame.

Kekuchi shared the following with Famitsu, as translated by Nintendo Everything:

Masahiro Sakurai

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai published his latest Famitsu column this week. Given that Sephiroth just joined the game as the latest DLC character, it makes sense that the piece was entirely about the new roster addition.

Sakurai’s column offers insight into how Sephiroth was implemented, including the challenges involved and his “Winged Form”. He also briefly touches on the game’s reveal trailer.

Here’s our full translation:

Another year is almost in the books. 2020 will be finished in just a few days, which given how things have been over the past several months, that’s probably a good thing.

As far as gaming goes, plenty of titles came out this year. Nintendo itself published Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore, Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX, Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition, Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, Paper Mario: The Origami King, Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, Pikmin 3 Deluxe, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, and Fitness Boxing 2 (with a smattering of smaller things like Kirby Fighters 2). From third-parties, some of the highlights were Hades, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Trials of Mana, Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin, Immortals Fenyx Rising, and Doom Eternal.

With everything that we’ve seen since January, what’s your personal game of the year? Maybe you have a favorite you played for the first time that actually released prior to 2020? No matter the case, share your picks with us in the comments below.

Kanye West

Former Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed that an opportunity once came about to work with rapper, record producer, fashion designer, and entrepreneur Kanye West on a video game. However, it was something that never came to be in the end.

During E3 many years ago, Kanye West visited Nintendo’s area, and was even able to spend a bit of time with Shigeru Miyamoto. Later on, he wanted to arrange for a meeting with Reggie as well. Despite the craziness happening with E3, the two ended up getting together at Kanye’s business office for his fashion business in Calibasas.

Reggie recounted the experience in which he said:

Buddy Mission Bond

Nintendo just issued a new trailer for Buddy Mission Bond, its upcoming adventure title for Switch made in collaboration with Koei Tecmo. Watch it below.

Buddy Mission Bond is due out for Switch on January 29, 2021 in Japan. A western release has not yet been announced.

Back in 2018, we heard some talk about a possible Switch version of Indie Pogo, a platform brawler game featuring a slew of indie characters. Lowe Bros. Studios made it official as part of a new announcement today.

The Switch version of Indie Pogo will contain all previously released content, including all DLC. Players on the console will also have access to all upcoming DLC packs like Octodad from Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Gunvolt from Azure Striker Gunvolt, Dust from Dust: An Elysian Tail, and a fighter from Awesomenauts.

It’s been almost two years since Hollow Knight: Silksong was announced. Status updates have been tough to come by, especially since E3 2019. Fortunately, the wait for new information is almost over.

EDGE has revealed that it has scored Hollow Knight: Silksong for its next issue. Aside from featuring the game on the cover, an in-depth feature is planned, with the magazine teasing its article as a “world exclusive”.

Details should emerge online within the next few days – stay tuned.
