Indie World Showcase

A new Indie World Showcase will air tomorrow, August 11, Nintendo has announced. It will feature about 20 minutes of information regarding upcoming indie games for Switch.

Indie World will debut at the following times:

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition

Based on a new report from Fanbyte, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is on the way, and is apparently not too far off from completion. The site claims to have first tidbits about the project and its development as well.

Fanbyte decided to go live with its report following some recent comments made by actress Jenna Coleman, who plays Melia in the series. She took on a fan question with YouTube channel Din’s Meteorite, in which she stated:

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is making the jump to Switch, Warner Bros. Interactive and TT Games revealed today. A release is set for October 5.

Two pieces of DLC will be included: Super Pack and Asgard Pack. Here’s an overview of both:

Darksiders III

Darksiders III is coming to Switch, THQ Nordic and Gunfire Games revealed today. The game, which first appeared in 2018, is launching for Nintendo’s console on September 30.

Darksiders III on Switch will include the “Keepers of the Void” and “The Crucible” DLC.

Here’s an overview of the game, along with a trailer:

There hasn’t been much casting news surrounding the Super Mario animated movie (or news about the film in general), but it seems that Sebastian Maniscalco is voicing a character.

The actor and comedian appeared during the latest episode of Bertcast where he casually mentioned his involvement. Maniscalco said that he’s “in the movie Super Mario Bros., an animated movie” before adding that he’s “playing Spike, their boss.”

LEGO City Undercover may feature an open world, but it’s not overly comparable to Grand Theft Auto. It turns out that this was intentional.

During a recent episode of the Bits N’ Bricks podcast, lead animator Matt Palmer mentioned, “One thing we were keen to try and avoid was it becoming a Grand Theft Auto game.” Rather than being violent, the team “constantly stepped back from things and just made sure that we were looking at the fun and the funny element of what we could do.” That lead to elements like the grapple gun.

Palmer explained:

A new month rolled right on in a few days ago. Now that we’re in August, we want to know what you’ve been playing.

Lots of Switch games have come out over the past few weeks, including Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles, NEO: The World Ends with You, Samurai Warriors 5, Blaster Master Zero 3, and much more. Have you been playing any of these titles? No matter the case, let us know in the comments below.

LEGO City Undercover

LEGO City Undercover was a pretty big deal when it first appeared on Wii U close to a decade ago. It was planned as one of the system’s first major games, and was even published by Nintendo.

In a recent episode of the Bits N’ Bricks podcast, lead animator Matt Palmer and LEGO Group producer Darryl Kelley spoke in-depth about LEGO City Undercover’s creation. We also get to hear about Nintendo’s role. According to Kelley, the company was “very, very involved” – including development itself.

Below are Plamer and Kelley’s full words:

Kirby Star Allies

HAL Laboratory’s Shinya Kumazaki opened up about the making of Kirby Star Allies in a recently-released art book for the game. Kumazaki discussed when development began (planning was actually before the launch of Planet Robobot), the previous absence of Kirby side-scrollers on consoles, and more.
