Former Rare dev on redesigning Donkey Kong, Star Fox Adventures changes, meeting Miyamoto, more
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in GameCube, General Nintendo, News | 11 Comments
Kevin Bayliss left a huge mark on Rare during his nearly 20-year run at the studio. As a designer and art director, he contributed to Donkey Kong Country, Diddy Kong Racing, Star Fox Adventures, and much more.
UK magazine GamesTM spoke with Bayliss (who is now at Playtonic) this month, and asked him plenty of interesting questions about his time at Rare. The topics we’re mainly interested in focus on Nintendo specifically. Bayliss commented on the process of redesigning Donkey Kong for Donkey Kong Country, the initial changes that Star Fox Adventures went through, meeting Shigeru Miyamoto, and more.
We’ve included Bayliss’ comments below. You can pick up GamesTM now for the full interview.

Futuridium EP Deluxe disappears from the eShop
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS eShop, New Nintendo 3DS, News, Wii U eShop | 1 Comment
Futuridium EP Deluxe made it to the Wii U eShop in May. Then in September, MixedBag Games published a New 3DS release. Strangely, both versions have now disappeared.
Reader TruExtent informed us about the situation this week. Unfortunately, it’s not entirely clear why Futuridium EP Deluxe has been pulled from the eShop.
TruExtent called Nintendo a few days ago, and was told that Futuridium EP Deluxe was taken down from the eShop on November 9. Apparently it had something to do with a license expiring, but specifics weren’t shared. It’s currently unclear if and when Futuridium EP Deluxe will return. We’ve tried reaching out to MixedBag Games, but have not heard back from the studio.

Yo-kai Watch 3: Sukiyaki sold through 77.32 percent of its initial shipment. As a comparison to the first week sales of other Yo-kai Watch entries’ first week sales:
– Yo-kai Watch 2: Shinuchi (Yo-kai Watch 2’s third version): 1,244,000 copies
– Yo-kai Watch 2: Bony Spirits / Fleshy Souls – 1,317,000 copies
– Yo-kai Watch 3: Sushi / Tempura – 632,000 copies
Media Create points out that Yo-kai Watch’s popularity has fallen compared to the Yo-kai Watch 2 era. As a third version title, Sukiyaki had a massive drop in first week sales compared to previous games.

Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Mobile, News | 1 Comment
Kyoto Shimbun published a new article about Nintendo’s mobile plans yesterday, which included comments from president Tatsumi Kimishima. Sankei has now followed up with its own report.
Kimishima previously mentioned to Kyoto Shimbun that the company was looking at two or three mobile titles each year starting in 2017. However, Sankei has a different quote from him in which he says that Nintendo is always considering pushing out three, and maybe even more than that per year.

Plenty of Pokemon Sun/Moon concept art
Posted on 8 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in 3DS, Images | 6 Comments
In Japan, the Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon Alola Art Book was a pre-order incentive. Official illustrations are included inside, along with special pictures of concept art. These images show characters, locations, and more.
Here’s a look at the various concept art:
I believe this art was also included in the Pokemon Sun and Pokemon Moon: Official Strategy Guide Collector’s Vault. The images may have been a part of the standard/collector’s guides as well, but I can’t say for certain as I don’t have access to those.
