Wolf Link amiibo unlocks enhanced weapons for Midna in Hyrule Warriors Legends

Twilight Princess HD isn’t the only Zelda-related game that provides unique functionality when using the Wolf Link amiibo. If you scan the figure in the new 3DS game, players can unlock enhanced weapons for Midna. It’s a neat little bonus that I don’t believe we heard about previously!

Smash Bros. Wii U seeing a bit of maintenance in a few hours

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be undergoing a tiny bit of maintenance later today. It won’t last long, as only an hour of downtime is scheduled. All network services for the game will be affected.
Here’s when the maintenance is happening:
– 5 PM PT (Thursday) – 6 PM PT (Thursday)
– 8 PM ET (Thursday) – 9 PM ET (Thursday)
– 1 AM in the UK (Friday) – 2 AM in the UK (Friday)
– 2 AM in Europe (Friday) – 3 AM in Europe (Friday)
Hyrule Warriors Legends bumped up a day early in Europe

Hyrule Warriors Legends has a new release date in Europe, although it’s only a very minor change. The game is being brought one day forward to March 24. This is due to Good Friday taking place the very next day.
Nintendo posted the news on Twitter a couple of minutes ago, writing:

New 3DS XL Hyrule Edition coming to Europe in March

Good news for Zelda fans in Europe, as the Hyrule Edition New 3DS XL was announced for the territory today. You’ll be able to pick one up starting on March 24.

Nintendo brings new amiibo figures and functionality to games in early 2016

Nintendo of America has sent out a new announcement regarding amiibo. The publisher shared the latest news about upcoming figures and games supporting the functionality in early 2016.
Perhaps the biggest news here is that amiibo support is now official for Star Fox Zero. However, Nintendo will be sharing specifics at a later date.
We also now know that new Animal Crossing amiibo, including characters like Timmy & Tommy, Kapp’n and Rover, are due out in North America on March 18. Digby will also be made available as a stand-alone figure. The next series of Animal Crossing amiibo cards will also arrive in March.
Also in terms of amiibo figures, several Pokemon will be restocked at select retailers. Be on the lookout for Charizard, Jigglypuff, Greninja and Lucario to once again return to shelves right next to Pikachu.

Asteroid Challenge heading to the Wii U eShop

Magique Productions will soon be releasing “Asteroid Challenge” on the Wii U eShop. An exact date hasn’t been determined yet, but the team hopes to have its game wrapped up at the end of this month and launch later in Q1.
Asteroid Challenge is a shooter inspired by classic titles including Asteroids, Space Duel, Centipede, and more. Players will need to defeat waves of asteroids as well as enemy ships while overcoming obstacles. Power-ups, special weapons, and achievements are all in the game.
Here’s an overview of features:
– 1080p 60fps HD game play
– 3 retro graphics modes
– single player, single ship mode
– single player, linked ship mode
– two player, individual ship mode
– two player, linked ship mode
– 70 levels consisting of 7 sectors of 10 levels each
– Boss battles on the final level of each sector
– Power-ups and Special Weapons

Development on Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night continues to progress. Today, a new Kickstarter update was posted regarding shaders. The team is looking for feedback from fans – based on four different options – to settle on the best style. You can vote right here.
