Pokemon games tend to have a habit of introducing new features with each entry, only for them to be abandoned when the next games are introduced. Mega Evolutions and Z-Moves didn’t stick around long, for example. Having Pokemon follow the player as they’re exploring has also never been consistent.

While speaking with Pokemon Sword/Shield director Shigeru Ohmori, Metro decided to ask why this happens. Ohmori had this to say when asked if Dynamax will stick around in the long-term:

The latest episode of Nintendo Minute has gone live. In today’s video, Kit and Krysta continue playing levels from the community. Check out the full episode below.

During Nintendo’s 79th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, one investor shared the sentiment that the company “has been a little slow to join large global trends like the mobile business and releasing games that use VR.” Having said that, this person wanted to hear Nintendo’s thoughts topics such as cloud gaming and 5G.

Monolith Soft

Xenoblade developer Monolith Soft today shared some information about its financial performance during the latest period. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2019, profit was at 274 million yen.

Profit for Monolith Soft doubled year-over-year. Here’s a look at how much the company generated in recent years:

During Nintendo’s 79th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, an investor brought up the fact that “major corporations have announced new developments in the video game business this year” and how “Nintendo will be facing off as a rival with these types of corporations”. This person wanted to know about any Nintendo policies or guidelines regarding competition or collaboration with other companies.

President Shuntaro Furukawa fielded the response here. The basic idea is that Nintendo interested too interested in “large-scale collaborations.” But the company will “actively consider partnerships that would increase the value of Nintendo IP, such as our game characters and worlds.” Working with Line and DeNA on Dr. Mario World and Mario Kart Tour respectively are examples of this.

What would happen if another company attempted to initiate a hostile takeover of Nintendo because they were after the company’s IPs. Would the Big N be able to protect itself? That’s something an investor wanted to know at Nintendo’s 79th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders a few days ago.

President Shuntaro Furukawa commented on the situation. He explained that Nintendo hasn’t adopted anti-takeover measures, but has systems in place “to take all legal and appropriate steps against it”.

During Nintendo’s 79th Annual General Meeting of Shareholders, one investor brought up how E3 featured the same sort of things we’ve been seeing from games over the past three decades in the sense that players look at the screen and play with a controller in their hand. This person wanted to know how developers feel about this and whether or not it will continue. That led to some very interesting comments from Nintendo.

Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto, Shinya Takahashi, and Ko Shiota all commented here. Takahashi mentioned how Nintendo is always looking to innovate and pointed to 1-2 Switch and Labo VR. Miyamoto would add that Nintendo was the first to create the d-pad and additional buttons, as well as the analog stick which “is the clear winner.”
