This month’s issue of EDGE contains an interview with Eiji Aonuma, producer of the Zelda series. While the magazine likely asked a few questions about Breath of the Wild, Aonuma also chatted about Switch specifically.

EDGE asked Aonuma about whether Switch allows for Nintendo’s handheld and console teams to be unified, leading to quicker releases. Although that’s somewhat true,  he said “it doesn’t automatically mean things will happen more quickly or more easily.” More importantly, Aonuma said that Switch “doesn’t mean for us that the concept of a dedicated handheld will just disappear.”

Aonuma’s full comments:

“There’s an element of that, but it doesn’t automatically mean things will happen more quickly or more easily. Plus, Nintendo 3DS still has plenty of titles in development. The concept of the Switch is that you have a home console that you can take with you on the go, and in that respect it is both home console and handheld, but it doesn’t mean for us that the concept of a dedicated handheld will just disappear.”

GameXplain sent some questions over to Intelligent Systems’ Kouhei Maeda as part of an interview about Fire Emblem Heroes. Maeda commented on the hurdles of making a Fire Emblem for mobile, if balancing is affected by microstransacations, future support, and more. Check out the full interview below.

Many Pokemon players are experiencing issues registering and logging in to the Pokemon Global Link. This is needed in order to log progress in Global Missions.

As Kotaku points out, a Pokemon Trainer Account is required to sync game progress online. That’s where you ultimately gain access to the Pokemon Global Link. While it seems as though Trainer Accounts are fine, attempting to log in with that information on Pokemon Global Link refreshes the page rather than logging you in. Newly registered accounts appear to be primarily affected.

Unfortunately, these issues have been taking place for a month without any resolution in sight. One suggestion has been to add your name to your Pokemon Trainer Account and set your PGL settings to “Nobody”, but it’s definitely not a solution for all players. The situation may also explain why the first Global Missions in Pokemon Sun/Moon have ended in failure.

The nominees are in for the 2017 Kids’ Choice Awards. Pokemon Moon (no Sun for whatever reason) and Paper Mario: Color Splash make up the main highlights in the “Favorite Video Game” category. Just Dance 2017, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and Minecraft: Story Mode are the other nominees.

The 2017 Kids’ Choice Awards will take place on March 11. Nintendo will be sponsoring the event.
