Ahead of Wonder Boy: Asha in Monster World’s upcoming release, director Ryuichi Nishizawa was kind enough to answer some of our questions as part of a new interview. Nishizawa talked about the game’s origins including how long it’s been in the works, why the team decided to remake Monster World IV, and more. Nishizawa also spoke more generally and commented about what could come in the future.

YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits has put together a video that compares Sea of Solitude on PC up against the new Switch version. Check it out below.

As a reminder, the Switch version received an exclusive “The Director’s Cut” version of Sea of Solitude. Aside from a customizable photo mode, gyroscope integration, rewritten script, and new cast of voice actors, it also features augmented cut scenes and animations.

Nintendo has updated its upcoming maintenance schedule, and two sessions are planned. Nintendo Switch Parental Controls will be impacted during the early part of this coming week while all of the eShops will be affected to kick off April.

Here’s the current schedule in full:

Hades

The rogue-like dungeon crawler Hades has earned a great deal of praise and attention since its proper launch back in September. One of the aspects players have focused on are the characters, which have spawned plenty of fan art.

Greg Kasavin, who’s behind Hades’ writing and design, spoke about the response to the game’s characters in a previous issue of EDGE. He had this to say on that topic:

NERD, otherwise known as Nintendo European Research & Development, has worked on some interesting projects over the years. The division has been involved with the DS Virtual Console for Wii U, the New 3DS’ super stable 3D, emulators for the NES and SNES Classic Editions, and more.

Most recently, NERD contributed to Super Mario 3D All-Stars. A notice on the official website mentions how its own GameCube emulation technology was used as well as a “deep learning engine” to upgrade Super Mario Sunshine’s in-game videos to HD. For Super Mario Galaxy, NERD offered “graphics and audio emulation technologies.”

Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville Complete Edition is now available on Switch both physically and digitally.

In another segment in our discussion video series, we take a look at the reasons as to why Nintendo pursues limited releases and talk about if they will continue to go down that path with future games. Specifically, we speculate if we could see some limited releases for The Legend of Zelda’s 35th anniversary, and what games could potentially be made available and later delisted.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 + 2

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 was previously rumored for Switch, and Activision finally confirmed the news last month. We don’t have an exact release date yet, but we can at least rest easy knowing that the port is on the way.

Vicarious Visions developed Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 originally and the release was very well-received. However, the studio became a part of Blizzard in January. Some fans have been wondering who is responsible for the Switch port as a result. Fortunately, we’re hearing that despite Vicarious Visions having been merged into Blizzard, they’re still handling the new versions of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 – so the Switch version should still be in very good hands.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 launches for Switch later in 2021. You can see how the game is shaping up on Nintendo’s console here.

Thanks to Jake for the tip.
