Nintendo’s maintenance schedule has received its regular update. There’s not too much coming up over the next few days, though there’s some notable eShop downtime the following week.

Cygames announces Shadowverse: Champions Battle for Switch

Cygames today announced Shadowverse: Champions Battle, a card battling RPG for Switch. It’ll be based on the upcoming TV anime that’s kicking off on April 7 in Japan. Fans can expect card battles, story elements, charming characters, and two-player support.
Shadowverse: Champions Battle launches later this year in Japan. We’ve included a new trailer for the anime below.
Kamiya talks about his early meetings with Nintendo, how the art direction for The Wonderful 101 changed

In a recent issue of Famitsu, PlatinumGames’ Hideki Kamiya bonded with game director and scenario writer, Taro Yoko, over their mutual unwillingness to compromise on their creative visions. This prompted Yoko to bring up the topic of The Wonderful 101, as he had heard that the art direction for the game was quite different in the very beginning of development.

Ittle Dew 2+ dev on the game’s return to the Switch eShop and Nicalis

Months after it was taken down, Ittle Dew 2+ finally returns to the Switch eShop next week. Developer Ludosity is now able to release the game directly rather than having to go through Nicalis, the company that originally published its game.
The original issues came about last September after Ludosity terminated Nicalis’ publishing license six months prior due to breach of contract. Though Nicalis said it would transfer the game back to the studio on consoles, CEO Joel Nyström said Nicalis never followed through, and the title was simply taken down entirely.
Interestingly, according to Nyström, Nicalis apparently tried to re-publish Ittle Dew 2+ consoles despite having lost the rights. Nyström commented on the situation on Twitter and while speaking with GamesIndustry, writing:

Super Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe launching in China on March 16

Switch owners in China will soon have access to a pair of additional Switch titles. Super Mario Odyssey, in addition to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, are both launching on March 16.
A physical release isn’t planned – at least not initially. Instead, the games will be offered as download cards and on the eShop, limiting things to a digital release.
Those who pre-order Super Mario Odyssey will be given a passport cover while the bonus for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is a sticker sheet.
Nintendo celebrates White Day with Splatoon 2 art

Nintendo celebrated Valentine’s Day last month with a special piece of Splatoon 2 art. It’s White Day in Japan (and other countries) now, so we have an equally lovely design for you above.
Valentine’s Day and White Day tend to go hand in hand. Those who received gifts on Valentine’s Day have a chance to reciprocate by giving back gifts of their own.
