Switch

The next firmware update is now live on Switch. Nintendo has started distribution of version 6.2.0.

Nintendo mentions the following about today’s update in its notes: “General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.”

The last major Switch system upgrade came in mid-September. It paved the way for the Nintendo Switch Online functionality – notably cloud saves.

Following this weekend’s news that Girls und Panzer: Dream Tank Match DX is bound for Switch, Bandai Namco has published a few screenshots. We have them below.

After Cloud was added as DLC in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS, only two Final Fantasy tracks were made available. With Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it’ll be more of the same.

Based on hands-on reports with the near-final version of the game, we’re hearing that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is bringing back those pieces of music from the last Smash Bros. – and that’s it. We’re not aware of any other inclusions from Final Fantasy VII or the series as a whole. There’s still a small possibility that you can unlock more tracks, but either way, don’t expect a whole lot of Final Fantasy representation in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

The ZX Spectrum game Saboteur! came to Switch earlier this month, though only digitally. The good news is that in Q1/Q2 2019, a physical version will be offered as well. This applies to both North America and Europe.

That isn’t all. Saboteur II: Avenging Angel is also confirmed for Switch, and will also be receiving a physical release. Expect to see it out around the same time as the original.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has a roster of over 70 characters. However, initially, only a small group will be available. As a nod to the N64 original, the base roster features Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, and Pikachu.

That leaves a whole lot of characters left to be unlocked. Fortunately though, the whole process won’t take terribly long. Based on what Nintendo told members of the media during hands-on sessions last week, players will be able to unlock the characters “in a few hours.”

Nintendo really hasn’t discussed how players can unlock characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Going through World of Light should be one option, but there will probably be alternate methods as well.
