A Nintendo Direct for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate rolled right in and aired earlier this week. Nintendo pretty much filled in the blanks on some of the uncertainties surrounding the game. The last initial characters were revealed, DLC was confirmed, the Spirits mode was detailed, we got a first look at the new Adventure Mode: World of Light, and more. There was a lot that was discussed in the end, so this recap should come in handy if you want to get a quick reminder on everything shown.

Now that we mostly know about everything surrounding Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, how is everyone feeling about the game? Did this week’s Nintendo Direct get you more hyped or were you disappointed? What do you think about the final characters that were announced? If you have any thoughts about the new Smash Bros., be sure to share them with us in the comments below.

XSEED announced this week that Fate/Extella Link is coming to North America in Q1 2019. Better yet, it’ll be accompanied by a special release. Amazon is taking pre-orders for the Fleeting Glory Limited Edition here.

The limited edition comes with a few extra goodies. Fans will be given the game, a soundtrack CD, a pack of 10 collectible cards depicting each of the new Servants, a cloth poster, and an acrylic diorama all housed in a custom box.

If limited editions aren’t your thing, you can also pre-order a standard copy of Fate/Extella Link on Switch here.

Nintendo Live 2018 is happening in Tokyo this weekend, with another event to follow in Kyoto later in the month. Nintendo is offering playable demos, hosting a variety of tournaments, and more.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director Masahiro Sakurai actually stopped by earlier today and mainly showed off the Classic and Spirits modes in a 22-minute presentation. We have the recording of that below, along with a ton of additional footage.

More footage is in from the updated demo build of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Below we have a look at all alternate costumes in the game (including alternate colors).

This month’s EDGE review scores are as follows:

Thanks to Amazon, we now have the boxart for Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster on Switch. Get a look at the packaging image above.

Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster can be pre-ordered on Amazon here.

Nintendo and HAL Laboratory are still sharing concept art for Kirby Star Allies. This week’s focus is Hyness, the main antagonist in the game. We have a couple of pieces of art attached to this post.

PM Studios and acttil have released a new update for MUSYNX on Switch. Players can access version 1.1.2 as of this week.

The new update addresses a couple of things in particular. First, touch screen bug fixes have been implemented where the right arrow for navigation on the song screen would become un-selectable. Another fix is included as well where the song auto selects when scrolling through the song list.

That’s a small patch, but there’s more to come for MUSYNX. The team says “there’s more awesome stuff” on the way.

Octopath Traveler

A recent issue of Nintendo Dream features an informative and lengthy interview with Octopath Traveler’s main producers from Square Enix, known as the “Asano Team”. The discussion focuses on art direction and learning more about the eight main characters (who were originally going to be a team of up to twelve!) with behind-the-scenes information on changes to characters’ designs, names, and personalities. We also have a brand new look at initial prototypes for the visual style, talk about a scrapped HD Rumble idea, and much more.

Check out our exclusive translation below to learn first-hand how Octopath Traveler started out based on Final Fantasy VI and Romancing SaGa 3, and how the team pioneered a new “HD-2D” art style to create a JRPG that feels nostalgic, yet brand new, all at once.

GameXplain has picked up on an interesting tidbit from the World of Light trailer for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Yesterday’s video gave us a look at the map a few different times, but there’s one very neat area in particular.

During a very brief moment in the trailer, we’re able to see a Nintendo city. It houses a Famicom, Game Boy, N64 logo, and more.
