Rumor: Switch frame rate drops impacted by Wi-Fi issue, will be fixed with system update
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in Rumors, Switch | 33 Comments
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is a must-have game on Switch. If there’s one thing to criticize though, it’d be the game’s technical performance. Specifically, Breath of the Wild sometimes experiences frame rate drops. Some players have even experienced the screen freezing for a second or two.
Zelda isn’t actually the only game with frame rate issues. FAST RMX and I Am Setsuna both have problems with resolution drops and frame rate fluctuations respectively. However, an anonymous third-party developer has told Nintendo Life that the situation is resulting from a known issue with Switch’s Wi-Fi connection which places additional load on the processor.
One of the site’s readers, JunkRabbit, also provides the following explanation:

LEGO Worlds: Switch version started development in January after positive LEGO City Undercover feedback
Posted on 7 years ago by Matt(@OnePunchMaz) in News, Switch | 7 Comments
LEGO Worlds was released on other platforms last week, but the Switch version doesn’t have a concrete release date yet. The reason for that might be the fact that development on the Switch version only started very recently. Here’s what Chris Rose, the associate producer of the game, had to say about the Switch version:
“We decided to make this version on January. We were looking at the development of LEGO City Undercover, so we asked the team ‘How are you going with that?’ and the answer was truly positive, testers were very happy with it. Then, we said: ‘Ok, let’s try it [bringing LEGO Worlds to Switch]’, we started to do programming things and testing some optimizations for the graphics engine. This started like three weeks ago, on February. We think that having a portable version of the game is something really interesting, so we went for that.”

First week sales for Disgaea 5 Complete, I Am Setsuna in Japan
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch | 52 Comments
Some third-party Switch games are off to pretty decent starts in Japan. On the other end of the spectrum, Disgaea 5 Complete and I Am Setsuna have started off slowly.
It was a bit worrying when both titles missed Media Create’s initial software chart for the week of February 27. When the expanded chart came in, we saw that I Am Setsuna and Disgaea 5 Complete were positioned at the 22nd and 26th spots respectively.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild director inspired by Minecraft and Terraria, talks developing for Switch
Posted on 7 years ago by Brian(@NE_Brian) in News, Switch, Wii U | 14 Comments
In the past, Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma has spoken about being inspired by games such as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim in creating Breath of the Wild. But what about the game’s director, Hidemaro Fujibayashi?
Fujibayashi cited two games while speaking with EDGE this month about games that inspired him: Minecraft and Terraria. He told the magazine:
“I was rather inspired by playing Minecraft and Terraria. I was able to learn from the gameplay and the possibilities found in. I could learn from the sense of adventure, exploration and how it inspired curiosity.”
As for real life inspiration, Fujibayashi is involved with an adventure club with other Nintendo staff in which they participate in outdoor activities:
