Rumors

There is a screenshot of what appears to be an email from Amazon Italy that states that there has been a delay to the release of Splatoon for Europe. The email goes on to say that the game has been delayed in Europe until July and would ship around July 2 – 7.

The email was posted on a European site that focuses on Nintendo related news and games. At this time there is no confirmation on whether or not this rumor has any credence but stay tuned as we will update as more information becomes available.

Update: (3/11/15) It’s not a mobile game as many had expected, but it isn’t for a Nintendo platform. The game is “Tembo The Badass Elephant” – read about it here.

The postcard above, coming from Game Freak and SEGA, was sent out to certain folks today. It seems to be teasing a potential collaboration between the two companies. I have no idea what this is about – and there’s a possibility that this has nothing to do with Nintendo – but I figured this was worth sharing!

Just a few days ago we reported that a retailer in South Africa had a few listings up for amiibo for the upcoming Splatoon. The amiibo listed had both “Boy” and “Girl” versions, plus a “Squid” edition that would be bundled with the game. Though nothing has been made official from Nintendo, it seems Splatoon’s eShop page makes mention of the usage of amiibo, further giving this evidence merit. Now though the amiibo compatible could very well be those previously released, it certainly makes you think if Splatoon-based amiibo really may be on the way. I, for one, certainly welcome the notion of having a Splatoon amiibo line.

Update: Just wanted to casually mention that the same retailer also has Greninja and Jigglypuff. I’m not making a big deal out of it since we know that every Smash Bros. character is getting an amiibo. There’s also a May 29 release date listed, but I’m not confident that it’s accurate.

Raru, a retailer in South Africa, has a few listings up for Splatoon amiibo. Pre-orders are live for “Boy” and “Girl” versions, plus a “Squid” amiibo bundle with the actual game.

There’s definitely a chance that these listings are nothing more than mistakes on Raru’s part, though they haven’t been entirely debunked… yet. We’ll leave you guys to speculate! Either way, would you purchase a Splatoon-based amiibo?

Has Meme Run been removed from the North American Wii U eShop? At the moment, that appears to be the case.

There’s no sign of the game on the eShop. Its Miiverse community is gone as well. However, Meme Run is still listed on Nintendo’s website.

We’ll keep track of the situation, and will update this post if any additional information comes in.

Headstrong Games, the developer behind the Art Academy and Battalion Wars titles, may have an unannounced Wii U game in the works. Former programmer Callum Brighting lists the project on his LinkedIn profile, which is apparently not the Wii U version of Art Academy. It’s unclear if it’s still in the works, or was cancelled.

If you plan on playing Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, you should be aware that the game apparently lacks the Japanese dub. The original Wii game allowed players to switch between the Japanese and English voices. Just to be safe, we’ll try following up with Nintendo of America to confirm that the situation.

Speculation about Rosalina, Donkey Kong and Wario getting their own Super Mario amiibo first surfaced last week when Nintendo updated the Japanese Mario Party 10 website with a few images (see above). Now Nintendo España is adding fuel to the fire and may have essentially confirmed the rumors.

Take a look at this roughly translated section from a Nintendo España / Spain press release:

From the collection of Super Smash Bros., now on sale, you can play with amiibo Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Luigi and Bowser. What have not you done with them and not find them anywhere? The March 20 comes a new collection of ad hoc amiibo made for Mario Party 10: Super Mario Collection, which includes new amiibo Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad, Yoshi, Bowser, Estela, Donkey Kong and Wario.

That’s still not a complete and total confirmation, since there’s a small possibility that the press release text is an error. We’ll let you know if we hear anything out of Nintendo of America/UK!

Nintendo stock in North America as of late has become a bit ridiculous as of late. Finding amiibo, New 3DS XL systems, and other products in stores has been far from easy.

Whatever’s going on could partially be attributed to the port strike happening on the west coast, which has been taking place for several months. 70 percent of goods coming from Asia have been affected, Reuters says. Nintendo hardware and amiibo come from China, and ships tend to head to the west coast since it’s the shortest route. That happens to be where the strike is happening.

Nintendo hasn’t commented on whether the port strike has impacted them. However, Kotaku writes that it has heard from people at the company that supply of amiibo and New 3DS systems have been affected.
