Initial Media Create data for the week of January 16 came in earlier this week. However, the sales tracker now provides some extra information about the Japanese market, including an important note about Switch.

Media Create says that Switch pre-orders have already surpassed 80 percent of the system’s initial shipment. While we sadly don’t have a specific number for Switch’s initial shipment in Japan, the fact that it’s already sold through such a high percentage is encouraging. This was also done just after pre-orders opened last weekend.

Megami Meguri has managed to reach another big milestone. The game has surpassed 400,000 downloads, Capcom announced today. It was just last month that it was sitting at around 250,000.

Capcom is working on a major update for Megami Meguri, which will introduce various elements including a Photo Mode. New characters will be added in as well.

Miitomo has been updated with more content. Users will find a new stage, along with some brand new items.

“Snowy superstar! Winter Sportswear #1” is the new stage. It includes the following:

– Ski hat + goggles
– Snowboarding gear
– Polka-dot snowboarding gear
– Snowboard

And as far as the new items go, you can nab the following:

– Tattered dragon wings
– Cossack hat
– Outdoorsy fur vest
– Retro chic squares dress
– Mouton boots

We have a first glimpse at Nintendo’s booths at PAX South, which will be happening this this coming weekend. Nintendo is clearly taking the opportunity to reinforce the idea of taking the Switch with you when you travel – the booths are themed around things like an airplane cabin, a diner, etc. Check them out in the tweets below.

Arc System Works opened a teaser site for Cube Creator DX today. You can find it here. It’s incredibly bare-bones at the moment, and it doesn’t contain any content at the moment.

Headup Games has announced its first title for Switch. Super Blackjack Battle 2 Turbo Edition – The Card Warriors will be coming to the eShop after the initial launch.

As would expect, Super Blackjack Battle 2 Turbo Edition – The Card Warriors primarily consists of blackjack gameplay. It features a roster of twelve characters, ten storylines, and online matches. A trailer and overview of the premise can be found below.

“Super Blackjack Battle II Turbo edition introduces a roster of 12 very different characters all competing to become the greatest Blackjack player of all time.

Following an invitation by the owner of the largest Casino in Las Vegas and Godfather of the local most influential crime family, each character will face the other participants in a face off game of cards. Only the best of them will fly to Vegas to challenge the Godfather himself in a final match, not knowing that the tournament itself is nothing more than a charade to hide a ruthless master plan to defeat the competing clan family…”

Super Blackjack Battle 2 Turbo Edition – The Card Warriors initially comes out in March. The mobile version will be after that, and then Headup Games will begin to publish it on consoles at some point.

Aside from asking Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma about his thoughts on VR, French site Gameblog posed two more questions that were more about Nintendo in general.

First, Aonuma was asked about what makes Nintendo games recognizable. He (roughly) said the following:

“I do not know if it fits perfectly, but I will say that … it’s difficult to answer, because I never created video games other than Nintendo. On the other hand, I play a lot of other games, other than Nintendo. The specificity (essence) of Nintendo, although it is not valid for 100% of our games, but compared to other games, we go directly into the heart of the matter … It is true that our games do not take long to start, not full of cinematic intros, explanations that drag on and that we are told ‘well, we play when?’ And which give us rather want to turn off the console.”

Aonuma next commented on the gaming industry and how it’s changed. He (roughly) shared the following on that subject:
