Yesterday, we reported that the 3DS of popular smartphone game Monster Strike would be released in Japan on December 17th. Developer mixi has now made an announcement via the game’s official website, confirming that release date.

The website also confirms that the game takes place in the same world as the upcoming anime series and that the game supports local 4-player wireless multiplayer and Streetpass functionality.

There are also several in-game goodies that you get when you buy the game at launch, including a Rainbow Medal (which allows you to catch rare monsters), several stat boosters and one item that lets you evolve on of your monsters. If you buy the retail version of the game, you also get a set of five stickers and one mascot plug (which you can plug into an earphone jack).

Check out some images from the website in the gallery below.

A Western release date for Monster Strike has not yet been confirmed.

The official Animal Crossing microsite has and online tool and instructions on how to design and build a card case in the shape of a small house where you can store your Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer cards. The site lets you choose the design and colour of the “walls” of the house-shaped card case and decorate it with stickers, then gives you instructions on how to print the case and finally glue or tape it together.

Next week, Freedom Planet will finally be out on the North American Wii U eShop. Take a look at the video below for some footage.

The Xenoblade Chronicles X Special Edition can now be ordered on Best Buy. Get yours here. Best Buy seems to be charging for shipping, but I imagine that’ll be corrected before release.

Steam is the top-performing platform when it comes to Shovel Knight’s audience. However, Nintendo’s platforms are right behind.

During the Gaming Insiders event in San Francisco last week, Nathan Vella shared the breakdown of Shovel Knight’s audience. The game has seen 32 percent of its players on Steam, 30 percent on 3DS, 20 percent on Wii U, 14 percent on Sony platforms, and 4 percent on Xbox.

Vella noted that “Shovel Knight broke the impression that indies don’t sell so well on Nintendo”.
