In 2009 we were introduced to a work of science fiction that, to this day, holds great value and precedence in its prowess of storytelling and continues to be revered as one of the greatest visual novels ever produced: Steins;Gate. This was part of Chiyomaru’s Shikura’s Science Adventure series that was preceded by Chaos;Head. The Science Adventure series from 5pb. and Nitroplus spans quite a few games that are still developed to this day and all bring their own flare, charm, and narrative, with sequels more so being spiritual successors rather than follow-ups. With Switch’s first installment, Steins;Gate Elite, we have a beautiful and faithful rework of sorts that now has the chance to breathe new life again and be introduced to a whole new audience. It was something I thought wouldn’t entirely work at first since it uses most of the anime’s cutscenes to retell its original story (with a few exceptions), but what ended up ultimately happening was a rekindling of love for one of my favorite games and some of my favorite characters in the medium.

While Fate/Extella Link has been out for a bit in Japan, it’s not yet available in the west. XSEED Games will be changing that soon, as the publisher announced plans to release the game in North America on March 19.

As previously revealed, a special Fate/Extella Link Fleeting Glory Limited Edition will be offered to fans. It contains the game, a soundtrack CD, a pack of 10 collectible cards depicting each of the new Servants, a cloth poster, and a acrylic diorama all housed in a custom box.

A few months ago, Yacht Club Games dated a bunch of new Shovel Knight products for April 9. The physical version of Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, Shovel Knight: King of Cards, Shovel Knight Showdown, and Treasure Trove amiibo 3-pack were all planned for that day. Unfortunately, this will no longer be happening.

Yacht Club said today that everything has been delayed “one last time.” All items previously scheduled for April 9 will be pushed back “several months – at most”.

Nintendo Switch

A new firmware update for Switch is now available. Version 7.0.1 just went live for all users.

Nintendo’s explanation regarding today’s update is a small one. The company states that a specific issue has been addressed in which Pokemon: Let’s Go, Pikachu and Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee couldn’t connect to Pokemon GO if the game software was closed after pairing with the app.

Switch version 7.0.0 was distributed in January. It added New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe icons and additional language support.

PlatinumGames has opened a section on its website for Astral Chain, the new Switch exclusive announced during last week’s Nintendo Direct. The information goes a bit deeper into the story, gameplay, and more.

Here’s the full rundown:

Helix Chamber has managed to get its hands on a prototype for the original generation of Pokemon games. With that comes the discovery of many changed elements.

One of the first things we’re able to see – shown above – are early title screens. This includes the logo with “Capsule Monsters” as well as one with Rhyhorn early design.
